Each year the school grew larger and larger and it really went downhill. Academically it’s great, but everything else, forget it. The welfare officer is simply a teacher who did a day or 2 of extra training. She seems nice enough but has no knowledge of specific disabilities and learning issues. Because the school is so big they have a large “leadership team” which includes the principal and 3 AP’s who all have 2 leading teachers working underneath them... this seems like a ridiculous amount of “leadership” and money that is wasted when they could actually employ a fully welfare/social worker. Teachers are mostly great but are not supported by leadership. School looks great but don’t be fooled by its looks! We were marketed with a wetland for student learning - this just became a snake pit. In the 9 years we have been there none of my 3 kids have ever gone in there! The swimming program is a good addition, but it cannot replace regular lessons, as the school lessons have 8+ kids in a lane about 1.5-2m long. You are unable to directly contact your child’s teacher, or any staff member for that matter, electronically. You must call the school and leave a message or send an email via the generic email address. Staff will then not reply to your email - they are not allowed to! They will call you instead. Seems like they don’t want a paper trail. The last straw for us was when a past teacher, who verbally and emotionally abused children, and there was even some physical aspects (although not severe) returned to the school after being gone for a few years, now as a PE teacher! Why would you want someone back who was like this? She doesn’t even let the kids have a break for a drink when it’s 35 degrees. Very disappointing.
