I was a student at Woodlands, and i am now in year 8. I moved to Woodlands in year 2 after moving from Flinders. The school welcomed me, making me feel comfortable. The teachers were all so encouraging and i loved it there. The different styles of teaching they provide allow everyone with different learning styles to work effectively.

My daughter has been at this school for 3 years.
I thought we had made the right choice when we enrolled her but I was deceived by the principal of this school and his greatly exaggerated programs his school offered.
My daughter has gained very little more than what I had taught her before she started at this school. I cant believe I spent a couple of years teaching her basic maths and english and this school pretends they have taught her everything making out I did nothing before she started.
I am taking her out of this school. How dare they tell me they have taught my daughter all of what she knows.

My Son goes to this school and I have spoken to the teacher on numerous occasions without any effort on her part what so ever. I have found that most learning is based on memory and not being shown correctly. When your child does not have the best memory and is not picking things up as quickly as the others the parents are then to blame, instead of the teacher showing a more personal approach.
The school is simply just too big and cannot cater for the children's needs. I have had two friends who have taken their kids out of this school and the kids start to enjoy learning again. My son gets anxiety on the way to school because there is just too much pressure put on him and constantly being told he SHOULD know something. He has got to the point where he is refusing to go. I have found another school for him (half the number of kids) which concentrates on the child and their best interests and not just a NAPLAN score!

This school ignores safety, hygiene and health of their students.
They have playground equipment that injuries students but do nothing about fixing the equipment unless you engage Worksafe.
The traffic created by enrolling students outside of their zone and more than doubling enrollments the school was designed for has created traffic chaos and they have done nothing to manage this. One day a child will be seriously hurt or killed. They send out newsletters saying its the police and the councils problem but the police and council do not have a say in how many students are enrolled. Across the school a lot of the surfaces has crumbed tyre rubber spread all over it. Have a look on YouTube about crumbed tyre rubber and what it is doing to your children.
They have not added any more toilets or drinking fountains to cope with the doubling of student numbers. DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILDREN AT THIS SCHOOL for their sake!

I was told this school would support my sons learning difficulty. He was held back and put in a composite class. He is repeating the same as he did last year but still does not understand. I have spoken to the teacher and coordinator and they cannot tell me what they are doing different between last year and this year for him.
Don't enroll your children in this school. I am taking him out.

Have two girls enrolled. They don't teach the basics of English or maths. They use Lexia and Matheletics program to educate our children on English and Math. My eldest daughter is in grade four and cannot identify the difference between a verb or noun. They learn "frequency words" which is based on memory and repetition. If you look at the NAPLAN requirements, the words they call "frequency words" are part of the NAPLAN testing (you can obtain NAPLAN books from your local newsagent). This is done to boost the schools NAPLAN results. The principal is happy to tell you how he was the vice principal when Woodlands opened but he did not like the original principal so he left and took the job as the principal of Frankston Primary school. He couldn't wait to get out of Frankston because the teachers were only baby sitting kids that had no way of being educated. So instead of fixing the problem he sat there for three years and waited for the principal of Woodlands to retire and applied for that role.
If your child has the ability to achieve higher than normal results, they will be held back so the school does not have to spend any extra money on engaging teachers that assist them to excel.
They advertise that they will allow each child to reach their full potential but do not give them any support for this to occur.
The principal tells you everything you want to hear but does not deliver. 2/10

Great to start with but unfortunatley found woodlands to be "one way teaching" and if your child doesn't fit the mould then they try and make them fit the mould. Art displayed in rooms is all the same, same way designed same way coloured with no child input or creativity. Art looks good but has no depth. Lots of work sheet every day for English and Maths, only one work sheet given to whole class, no differentiated learning. I asked to see plan for teaching and was shown one level teaching not displaying individual programs for student who are excelling or poor performers. Great looking school, principle sells it extremely well, but may be falsified a little about the educating of the child. We went their with 3 kids for 3 years till we changed to another local school, much happier with teachers making us feel our child mattered as an individual with in depth learning on all levels. Woodland 4/10

Woodlands made me the person I am today. I'm extremely grateful to their level of care and consideration. It's an amazing, nurturing school.
