I am a student at this school and I must say the only reason I’m going is so I can get a job in the future, otherwise I’d runaway and never go to school. Students are treated poorly, either with no respect or just let us get away with anything which is so terrible. Teachers are treated bad too but students are screamed at, sent to team leaders (teachers office) for usually no reason. My classmate was forced to move seats because of them dropping their pen below their chair and leaning over to get it. The logic here makes no sense, we practically had to teach two of our math CRTs how to do math or how to spell. I suggest if you are interested in taking your child to this school. Don’t please. I’ve been bullied so badly, nothing was done about it. Security cameras are for show. They don’t look into bullying. My friend last year was shoved into a break wall head first by my bully that has recently left the school, since nobody did anything he pulled her hair to the ground. A teacher watched that happen and walked away. This school is bully or get bullied, no in between. So if you want your kid to be a bully or get bullied for sure bring them but I suggest picking another school in your zone for your kid to be able to learn, be safe and responsible. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

don’t even waste your time going to this school. all there is are feral students who fight eachother for absolutely nothing, students who lack respect for others around them and bullies. team leaders brush problems off their shoulders and worsen the mental health of kids in need of help. majority of teachers here barely know how to do their jobs and don’t get any consequences when reported because staff dont care or don’t believe it. if you want your child to get a great education and make friends this school will not help but probably make your child get bullied instead.

This is a big school and a small amount of students misbehave which makes it difficult for other students to succeed. Teachers work really hard to manage some of the behaviors however it comes from home. Some students feel like its okay to disrupt the classroom when the teacher is trying to teach. Parents of those students are also not very supportive. When a student needs to get suspended for fighting another student parents ark up and try to blame the school. The phone are not allowed anywhere in the Victorian schools, however students still use their phones and when the teachers confiscate them the student starts arguing making the teachers job much more difficult. We have some very good teachers however because of the behaviors of those students and constant chat back when the students do the wrong thing makes the teachers life stressful. Some students are not there to learn but to just cause disruption. Teachers are very patient.

When it comes to schools I do not have high expectations but when it came to this school I was disappointed to the extreme. I have never hated any place more than here. The teachers are extremely rude and some are way to comfortable with the kids and like hug and speak to them as if they are friends with the students. When I spoke to my daughter she said that she does not feel comfortable around certain teachers. Not singular but plural because there are way more than a single teacher getting too comfortable. I recently found out that one teacher put my daughter down and told her that she is a terrible student and compared other top smart students to her. It is upsetting to hear this which is why next year I will be removing her and hopefully the new school she will be attending next year won’t be as sh*t as this school.

It’s a stupid school where the team leaders and teachers couldn’t care less about the students and appear to be teaching for money only. One moment the teachers will allow you to use your phone and the next when another teacher enters they will punish you for using your device during school hours although they gave full permission. The teachers are not considerate and do not attend to the needs of students who have special requiremnts.

I used to teach at this school as a CRT and I got treated like shit. This school has feral student behaviour and the staff are just as bad. I got bullied by my colleagues and the students didn’t do any of the work. This school is is so bad we had 10 school shootings in 10 days it’s so horrible. Worst school ever

Mount Ridley College is good and bad in numerous ways. Teachers seem to shadow students, pretend they're not there and only focus on their 'favourites'. There is enormous inequity at this school. Quite significant amounts of bullying, racism and homophobia, by students and teachers. There also isn't any assistance for those who struggled with lockdowns and are now behind, people are expected to just carry on without any assistance to bring them back up to the expected level. The class sizes are a absolute joke, enormous! Their attention to anyone who is sporty is profound, they'll put them into the sports program and use the best ones as poster children to make the school look better, its just a band-aid to cover the fact that all the attention is brought away from 'average' students, the sports program gets funded like crazy, that money should've been granted to more beneficial things like subsidised canteen food or more locker bays. The Canteen is crazy, I have no understanding as to how anybody is supposed to afford anything from there. Save yourself the heartache and send your kids to Hume Anglican Grammar or Atiken College, you can get a payment plan!

As I go to mount Ridley collage the teachers there are rlly annoying and only care about getting paid, uniform and the amount of cautions they give you. The teachers always tell u to wear the uniform right and it’s rlly annoying like it’s just uniform it’s not gonna hurt u. They don’t even keep track with the kids doing homework,
I’ve been able to not do homework for 4 years now. Kids even get bullied and the teachers would just say tell a teacher and we’ll work it out like rlly, talking it out wOnT do anything give the child a caution. And one time my brother yelled at a teacher for not doing he’s job all he was doing was siting there on hes laptop and the kids were just throwing stuff around.
And plus they don’t even keep track with stuff one time I got into a fight and I wasn’t even bothering the person or being mean and she hit me first, I ended up get into detention and she didn’t even get a caution or a detention like what the heck

I have attended this school since the initial intake of preps when it opened. This school is great and crap in a wide range of aspects. They have treated me well due to my stance in the school, but I do notice my peers being treated unfairly. The school is very multi-diverse, making it a haven for race-to-race bullying, the 'white' community is very minimal and get heavily targeted by those of Arabian decent, it is very bad. Overall, I would reconsider your decision to move your child here as they may get targeted for bullying. Cheers.

Part of the problem is that the leadership team do absolutely nothing to retain good teaching staff for as long as possible. Good teachers leave Mount Ridley every year in huge numbers, but they don't seem to care.

This school is excellent, and I would recommend for parents to enrol their kids here. Most of the reviews here are just hate towards this school. Also no school is perfect, each and every school has its ups and downs. The main reason people are spreading hate is because of the students. It is not the teachers fault that students misbehave. Discipline comes first from parents. Parents who show no discipline and do not educate their kids on what is right and what is wrong are the problem. And I do find it ludicrous that people here are blaming teachers and staff for students' misbehaviour. Teachers work long and hard to try and make each and every lesson as best as possible. Most of my teachers barley stay up late just to plan our lessons and make them the best they can be. True, this school focuses a bit on uniform, but it's for the better of us. This is preparing us for future jobs that require different dress codes. This school also offers many program and opportunities for those who are not only struggling in learning but are also doing academically well. This school offers a pathways office that helps all students in topics that have to do with one's future. Parents, I do fully recommend this school. It really is a good school but people are making it our to be bad. Kind regards.

How can they expect to solve the bullying issue, when some of the teachers themselves are bullies???
By Parent - 09 Sep 2019, Rate: poor
From what I hear, there seems to be a real culture of blaming the teachers for the appalling behaviour shown by some of the students. Remember that positive behaviours should always be taught at HOME first! The school is in denial about these sorts of issues and worry too much about uniform. Fix up the serious problems, stop being delusional and address the underlying issues before even attempting to turn this school into some sort of a mini Oxford!

Another student that I am close to at this school in year 12 had failed a unit, by which vcaa rules is fine, they just need to ensure they keep getting S’s afterwards. A particular teacher at our school made made very demeaning comments to this student and blamed their lack of attendance and abit of effort on them when they had a seriously disadvantaged situation at home meaning over half of their absences where due to a reason out of their control. The student was told to basically decide by the end of the week whether they can stay or not and not given much other support then that. This student feels the importance or completing vce but this teacher and others do not withhold this information. The meeting this was spoken about was blaintly lied about to the students mother saying it would be about them stopping the subject that they failed, which gave this student a very optimist outlook on the rest of the year but was quickly let down by the nature of the meeting.

This school simply just goes from bad to worse each time. Classrooms are open plan, which is a recipe for disaster, given how disruptive most of the students are. Bullying and rudeness to teachers are swept under the carpet and not dealt with. They often pair bad kids together in the same class. They often harp on about the wellbeing of students, yet continuously stress out and overload teachers to the max. The department should have this school on its radar. If you really care about academic achievement don't send your children here.

Love the atrocious spelling, grammar and punctuation from students in the comments....
The school has some lovely teachers, a lot of whom wear 6 inches of makeup and skin tight clothing making it difficult for pubescent males to concentrate according to my student son.
The comments about students not attending, yet managing to go up a level each year is unfortunately, extremely accurate.
The rampant bullying without teachers assistance is also extremely accurate
There are NO payment plans in place for anything except school fees, and the school is pretty much run by a weedy little grub who cares more about uniform than issues and insists on being addressed as Dr...
Great school if you are a perfect parent, with perfect children, living in perfect circumstances with perfect finances.

Bullying and disrespectful behaviour runs rife in this school. Teachers are overloaded constantly. Many year 7 students are absolutely feral and have no work ethic. School has no laptop program and have to use computer rooms which is so 10 years ago! Kids constantly on phones. Parents complain about not being able to afford laptops for their kids work yet their kids have all the latest phones and Bluetooth speakers to muck around with.

This school is so petty its the worst! I'm surprised i don not get into trouble for using red pen! The school is more focused on uniform then our work! One of the teachers even discriminates on me because i am a minority race at this school! Most of the students are just rude! No manners what so ever! Don't send your kids to this school! I honestly wish there was a rating on this that said horrible because that would be true! I have to be honest though i get along with most of the teachers here but some are just the worst and discriminating on the minor majority! Students are the worst most hang out in their race groups! Then they pick on everyone! Worst school

Mount Ridley College is a half decent school, with pros and cons like any other highschool in the world. The good things about this school is the education, as the things we learn are easy but gives us a challenge. Another good thing is the merit/caution system. However, some bad things about Mount Ridley College is heaps of people get bullied/bully. I have experienced bullying as I was a target, and it ruined my self esteem, and the team leaders did nothing about except blame me for arguing back, but bullying doesn't start from the children, it starts at home and the parents need to inform their children that bullying is not acceptable under any circumstance. Also the canteen is really expensive. Lastly, the school is becoming really strict on the uniform. Someone I know nearly got a redemption because his shoes had a tiny speck of red on them? Really?

Biggest mistake taking my kids here after being told my child was failing And basically saying there was nothing they could do (my child spent so many nights studying late) Take your kids to Craigieburn South College, they’ll have a better career path and mentors that will help make it happen after they’ve finished school, teachers that actually care and take their time and understand every student is different. My child is in University now by the way, don’t listen to what these teachers say about your kids. I hope this helps any parent out there!

As a student that attends mount Ridley College I can confirm that everything negative being said about this school is true. Teachers only care about being paid and are extremely rude to the students, I know from first hand experiences. I witness students get bullied on a daily basis and the teachers do absolutely nothing about the things that they are seeing, they choose to ignore the issues that take place in their classroom. Another issue is uniform, the school seems to only care about the uniform and not the actual education, my uniform costs more than the books itself, this wouldn’t be an issue if the education was worth the amount of money that my parents have spent. As a student that goes to mrc I am extremely concerned about where I’m going to end up in the future because I know for a fact that if I continue to spend time and mount Ridley College I’m not going to go very far. Please do not send your students to this school.

Everybody take a deep breath and relax, it's not as bad as some people make it sound. Two of my children go to this school but my kids have already been educated at home not to bully other children, to be considerate of others feelings, not to steal or vandalize property, not to be rude. It actually works if parents can explain to their children (preferably before their school years) that bullying , vandalizing, stealing , doing drugs is a VERY BAD THING then maybe we could stop blaming teachers and the school for the behaviour of our children.

Some people are complaining about the strict uniform rules. Would you rather go to school or go onto an excursion with people looking down on you? People are also complaining about the teachers. It’s hard to deal with so many students, there are around 30 students per class. The teachers do get frustrated and they ARE NOT just there for the pay. Others are complaining about the other students, you can report them to teachers if they are doing something rong. There is nothing rong with this school. I recommend it.

I go to this school. It isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. Most teachers are great and they do have a merit/demerit system for kids. If you cause too much trouble there are consequences. It isn’t the best it can be but it isn’t the worst either. Sometimes the teachers don’t notice some of the bad behaviour. Cut the teachers some slack and don’t hate on the school. Thankyou.

All of these are untrue, this school is great! Great teachers, moly great students but one problem is when kids are away for more than 80% of the time they don't tell him to come more or tell his/her parents and they still pass to the next grade.

I got a 40 min after school redemption because I wore thorts in term 2. It was a hot day it shouldn't matter. Students are also really rude.the school is a mess. The school system is absolutely bullshit. I have only been in this school for 2 years, and I am absolutely DISGUSTED. The school pays attention to the uniform more than anything else. I think that is absolutely stupid considering the fact that you attend school to learn, not to be told off because of a piece of clothing you are wearing. Just because I decide to wear a hoodie or jumper or sport uniform on a non PE day, that does NOT change my learning abilities. As long as we are wearing uniform with the Mount Ridley school logo on it, we should be fine and not be given out cautions for it.

I came to this school for year 7 and now I am in year 9. at first the school seemed okay and there was only little bullying and not so many comments thrown around but out of nowhere, as the couple years went by it got worse. teachers are constantly worrying about uniform more than a students actual education. for example with our winter skirt, we have a choice to wear stockings and if we do we aren't to wear socks. not sure if yous have noticed but stockings are very thin and without socks we were even colder than we were before. and all because I wore socks which where black the colour of my stockings I got detentions and cautions and I find that ridiculous. and who has girls wearing SKIRTS in WINTER. that's so stupid. as I said we can wear stockings but they're thin and don't help at all. we do have the choice to wear the boys winter uniform but I did it once and was constantly teased and told I looked like a boy and teachers did nothing about it. when it comes to bullying and harassing teachers are completely hopeless. I have had so many issues this year and all the teachers could offer me was to skip an after school redemption I had previously received without doing anything to the person causing those issues. some teachers can't even teach. my maths teacher is brilliant but I was waiting in my friends class as she got kept in to finish work and she asked her teacher several times for help and he was refusing to help her so I, a student, taught her how to do what she was required to do. it's pathetic that a teacher cannot even teach his class properly. we come to school for an education and as long as they're getting their money the teachers couldn't care less about that. some teachers expect us not to swear but students also expect the same off them. I have had several teachers call my class assholes, told us what we are doing is bullshit and yes I should be mature enough to handle things like that but it's not on, they're our role models. anyways I do not and will never recommend this school to anyone.

I find it incredibly distasteful to read the information supplied on this review page. From experience, most teachers and principal class are working hard to increase student academics and to decrease the amount of negative behaviour within the school. The teachers of my kids are blissful and always have the best interest of my kids at heart.
Please remember discipline starts at home and students often copy behaviours they are surrounded by. I'm not saying bullying is okay, what I am saying is parents need to have an interest in their children's lives and to supply them with information for them to function sociably in society in an orderly fashion. I know my kids teachers work hard to be the best they can possibly be.

All they care about is uniform and 10 second lateness and talking in class when they told you that you can talk hate the new mini school thing year P-4 called early years sounds like kinder and junior years and the rest is just stupid you are making 13 year olds sound like grade 2's ??
By Student - 30 Jan 2016, Rate: bad
This school is the worst school you could ever go to. The teachers care more about the uniform than the well being of the students. I got bullied for 3 years and thank the lord that I left. Stuff the school, it should be closed down. The teachers do jack shit.

Dear parent dated 16th October 2015, who can VCE results be excellent if the school has just started this year a VCE year, rating if 29th in Victoria I've yet to see that. And in response to parent dared 13th November 2015 you're absolutely right Mr Pagano needs a reality check. I've got lots of words that describe him not nice at all and yes you would think as far as May that something should have been done, in saying that my child had refused to drink from the school taps because the water has tasted funny for a long time. Pagano covered all his bases he's a narcissist, waiting for full capacity of the school so he can retire.
By Parent - 14 Nov 2015, Rate: bad
Recently the water issue came up with our children being in the situation where treated sewerage has been the water dispensed in the drinking taps.. it was reported by several people as early as May in 2015 that the water had qualities that were not normal to the palate. "fatty, thick, metallic in taste and texture" What was done by school management? Did the Workplace nominee Oh&s manager (NOT the Health &Safety Rep.) do anything or did that person just dismiss the issue, not even considering a health issue? (HSR do not have any responsibilities under the Law, but the school manager (Principal ) does. The children and teachers were placed in situation where their health and safety was compromised because a request to check the water was ignored. To say it was not raised as an issue is a blatant lie.
Who is the person nominated by management to be in charge of health and safety and to maintain a healthy and safe environment for the children? Is it the principal or has he a nominee? If so it is usually someone close to management as required under DEECD policy. Get your act together and look after our children!

Cautions do not work and merits are the same. Teachers should really start thinking of ways to make bullies stop. Also this school has no disipline. But other Han that this school is great.

If this is all true then the bullies must leave at the end of yr 11 because this school rates really high for VCE results scores.Came in at number 20 in the whole of Victoria. So I am thinking the kids that stay and do yr 12 are the ones that are good . mac robertson came n number I and this school number 20 something good is happening because these figures are amazing

This school is not that bad but teachers need to start pulling their weight and reward people who do the right things not reward the people who make poor decions. Please keep this in mind
By Student - 27 Sep 2015, Rate: bad
Many people at this school are bullies. Most teachers try to get it to stop but they are not doing the right thing to get them to stop. People that I new have moved school because of the bullies. Also in my class are a group of bad children and the teachers try to get them to behave but they don't. To some it up only a few students are good and many of the good students are leaving because of the bullies.

I'm rating the school as poor as the teachers are poor. Poorly educated. Teacher's don't care about kids, they learn or not. I'm going to stick private school for my kids.
By Parent - 30 Apr 2015, Rate: bad
After reading all the reviews about this school my daughter will NOT be attending. I'll stick to private education. Disappointing really, I had hoped that the Craigieburn Secondary Schools would have improved over the past 25 years but alas, it still seem they are still shite, and bullying is running rife.
By Parent - 20 Apr 2015, Rate: poor
I can honestly tell you that bullies get rewarded.and the bullied child will always be bullied. My children we constantly bullied as a working parent in the current employment climate it's difficult to visit with teachers. Discussions with children and teachers almost usually end up misconstrued, the bullied child is usually the "dobber", teachers are reluctant to assist the bullied child in some cases the teachers are bullies towards students, I'd like to name a few but it would be in appropriate.

this school is just amazing. after all, I left from a private school where my parents where paying way more then they do here and I have learnt so much more. moving was a right decision for me! plus teachers really help me with my grades and problems. Thanks!

I used to go to this school but i had to leave because it is so bad they really don't care if kids do well in school or not and when we don't do well they blame it on us. Also, they told me that I wasn't going to have a career in music and told me to choose something more practical and then cracked it when I finally left to achieve my dreams. They constantly put kids down and tell them they can't achieve their dreams. It's bullcrap!

i'm in year 10 now and i believe the school is pretty good if you willing to learn and if you good at blocking out distractions. if your're child or yourself cannot do this i don't recommend this school as it is open learning and has disruptive children. this school isn't very strict toward uniform but consequences for example redemption (detentions) are given out. if your moving up to year 9 you will get to choose your classes although it seems good it's not really as you have to make sure that your chosen classes fit into the grids the school provides if they don't then you will have to change your chosen class to one you might not like. ( i'm not sure if it's only Mount Ridley but it's not smart either way.

I'm rating the school as poor as the teachers are poor. Poorly educated, particularly those in the middle school. Mr Pagano is a joke sitting in his office proud as punch delivering speeches and dictating policies that are also a JOKE. OHS a joke, respect also a huge joke, students are treated badly by teachers when a student stands up for themselves the teacher is quick to send the child to redemption, children have no rights at this school unfortunately most teachers are following curriculum I know for a fact. Teachers are bullies, they bully the vulnerable child and the teachers excuse is recited from a school policy manual when you go to discuss the matter in an office with another teacher present incase there's an altercation.

It's funny how bad behaviour is rewarded at this school. Bullying isn't tolerated and yet they offer programs for the bullied...go figure. Expelled students continue to disrupt classes, uniform is always an issue but I don't think it should be a priority. Emergency teachers (some) are inadequate. Every child is entitled to an education but if children continue to deface, litter, bully and destroy property the child and parents need to be thrown out.

Mount ridely college constantly shows its value... Weather it's the interruptive islanders whom the teachers are afraid of, to the quality of education. Mount Ridely's staff need to take a stand to students. Islanders continue to destroy school property, with little/no consequences being taken. The department of education needs to look more into the school they are funding. Beside a few staff, (not naming), mount ridely's staff are largely made up of teacher's who shouldn't of received their degrees in teaching. Most just do the job to receive easy-go pay. The department of education shouldn't be recalling past inspections. Whenever the department's staff inspects the school, it's staff are constantly telling us to "behave" because the "education department" will give us more money. I urge the department to do a "surprise inspection". The department should review EVERY learning building and it's student, at the same time. Mount ridely's year 10's smoke and harass other student younger. It's staff are constantly telling the victims to "ignore'. Lastly, students with "special needs". Yes, I do understand their "special needs" however this should not effect my education and others around me. These students are constantly harassing and bullying students. This needs to change. I urge the department to take action. Kind regard ....................................
