When it came time for me to start looking for a school for my eldest child I began reflecting on the wonderful aspects of my own primary years at Harkaway. Even as a child I remember feeling so safe, secure and loved at Harkaway. Being a small school I never felt lost, but always heard and respected by the teachers and principal. Almost 20 years later the culture of the school is still just as supportive and welcoming. My daughter started at the school as a very shy child but has completely thrived in this nourishing environment. Her confidence has soared, and with this her academic ability has gone from strength to strength. The wonderful teachers have helped her develop a love of learning in literacy, maths and recently Chinese. I feel confident that her schooling at Harkaway Primary School will set her up for a lifelong love of learning. As a parent I also feel very blessed to be surrounded by such a welcoming school community as well. The parents are all so welcoming! And the teachers and principal are so incredibly approachable, always willing to take the time to have a chat about any concerns I may have. Nurturing staff, kindest Principal on the planet; caring to a fault. Harkaway exceeded my expectations. I admire that they are unlike other primary schools - they specialise in discovery learning, enquiry and creativity rather than the usual primary school specific learning approach. My daughter feels loved, respected for being herself and praised accordingly. As a parent, I appreciate the community feel and the "all hands on deck" approach of many families. The staff care for the grounds, they welcome new families and provide a fantastic performing arts program every second year. Well done Harkaway!
