Reviews | By Parent - 30 Dec 2018, Rate: poor | Whilst the IB schools we know have had good results, we haven’t seen a strong program at the school, and are also disappointed. I hear Springwood is better tho, lovely campus. Hope the powers that be realise that the school needs to get this sorted out, because it’s clear that something happened the past few years. The results are staggering, quite literally for these bubs who may want to go to uni one day!
| | By Parent - 05 Nov 2018, Rate: average | Looks like the college is monitoring and moderating any new reviews of the school on ratemyteacher.com, so concerns can't be posted... so putting this here! The principal sent a note out a few months ago letting parents know that yelling or speak abusively to teachers and overall school staff is unacceptable, but I am skeptical that the message will be heard because the school hasn’t done a good job addressing bad behaviour amongst both students and parents, so it’s just become common place. | | By Parent - 18 Oct 2018, Rate: poor | The springwoord/ carbrook school presents itself one way, but the reality is very different. For example, they give the children 1 week of swimming (thats 5 sessions) for the entire year, where other schools dedicate 1 if not 2 terms for swimming. Stats in QLD show increased numbers of childhood deaths dues to water safety issues, and the school could and should be doing better to support water safety learning. High school programs have also been scaled back, and they do not tell parents and prospective families about significant upcoming changes until they happen. The 2018 NAPLAN result aren’t that great either. One of the things they do instead of providing a solid swimming program or focusing on improving learning is dedicating an entire term to preparing for a “Christmas” concert extravaganza. That’s right: kids will practice how to sing and dance to Elton John, daily for an entire term so they could have a great concert. As a parent, I am very disappointed with where the school has placed their values. When choosing what’s best for your children, I say: buyer beware! I know about 8-12 children will not be returning | | >>More reviews... |
