Why is it significant?
Historically, Glencairn is significant as the first marital home of Sydney Greaves, member of one of Berwick's earliest and most important district families, noted as horse breeders and for their involvement in local government. The house, moved from Bass to its present site about 1922, is located on land which was once part of The Springs, owned from 1903 by Sydney's father, Edwin Greaves. (AHC criteria A4, D2 and H1)
