Im new to the school, i was very worried wether to hold my son back or send him. I have had many issues with him and alot of sleepless nights worrying about him, I had a meeting with the principal Mrs Leslie and she showed me around this tiny school and explained to me why i should send him. I have not shed a tear since. The most beautiful school and children not to mention the teachers, i can not express how happy i am with the decision of the school i picked and how much my son has changed. His kindergarten teacher is the best and the classroom is such a colourful happy place with always a helper there for those who need it. Anyone looking at starting please have a look for yourself you will not be dissapointed. The pricipal is there first thing in the morning to greet you and the last one there to say goodbye at the gate not to mention she know every single students name. She has done a fantastic job at running this school.

A warm, friendly and welcoming environment for all, indiscriminate of background or nationality or beliefs. Teachers are very committed and often perform outside their nominal workload for extra curricular activities. All students are known by all staff members which means NO ONE falls through the cracks. Public speaking is also taught at the school. Every student has opportunities to be part of other extra activities such as dance, choir, school sports and music. At large schools there are often too many students to accomodate everyone who has shown interest in such activities and as a result will only be offered to those that perform above average or only offered for a single term.

Sylvania Public School is a wonderful learning community. Contrary to the previous comment, I am curious as to when this "alumnus" attended. First of all, most government schools have some composite classes, and Sylvania Public prides itself on individual attention and differentiating the needs of each student. There is definitely an ongoing public speaking program from K - 6 which has seen our students attend zone and regional finals to represent the school. We encourage visitors to book a personal tour, and come along and see for themselves just how confident all of our students, including kindergarten, really are.

Sylvania public school is very different in comparison to the other schools.
I don’t believe that students get all their educational needs met here.
Classes are combined like year 2/3,3/4 etc
As a parent you are told that the teachers divide their teaching in the class but somehow I struggle to believe this.
Whilst other schools teach students public speaking which builds confidence from kindergarten here there is no ongoing effort towards this.
No second language taught,yes people are told of this before they enrol their students.
A very laid back learning environment.

Based on the missing spaces, capitalisation and spelling, it's clear that from 11 Nov 2014 to 17 Oct 2015 is the same parent. And obviously very upset to keep posting, but just 1 review.
It's a good school. Small, welcoming, kids feel very comfortable and looked after. Good opportunities in sport and clubs.
Only criticism is the very small grade 2 (just 11 kids) - perhaps influenced by new parents reading the above reviews. K/1/3/4 are much better sized.

A very warm and caring school with a strong community presence and a lovely mix of cultures. Teachers are professional and approachable. If you want your child to be more than just a number, send them to a small school. Please also be aware that the many unsavory reviews on this site seem to be of similar grammatical incorrectness (which suggests it was the same person).

Hello my name is Will Govender I know my school has some rough patches but every school has at least one rough patch. Deep down this school is the best school I have been to P.S Sylvania heights is overrated.

Not a very good school in my opinion.I would not risk my child's education to this school Sylvania heights is a exelent school as is bald face & Connels point I'd stay clear of this school.Thats just my opinion.

My son wasted 2 entire years at this school.If you can try for baldface, Sylvaniahights,South hurstville,Connells point,Any of these but this schools except this school.If education is your main concern look elsware.

There is a brothers for life member who has 2 children at this school.his fish and chip store across the road was found with bullet holes in it.he is very scary looking tattos even on his face gave this school a big miss as well.

Well what can I say.90% of this school is from a poor socioeconomic background which is from government assisted housing I found this out very fast and moved my child to sylvania hights a far better school.

I totally agree with the parent above please think before putting your child in this school.i had major issues with this school.very underfunded mixed with poor teaching.I can't belive Only one class has a smart board every school has them they are at least 10 years behind.moving my child was the best move we made.

I can now understand why so many parents pull there children out of this school.my child and many others where bullied and hurt at this school and nothing would be done.after 1 year at this school I have joined the 6 other parents and taken his out.The year 2 teacher mrs yarrow was a total wast of the year.he has not progressed in here class at all.

This school claims that they are the leading school in the area in ICT (computers and technology). Yet this school is at least 10 years behind others, they still use computer labs, and projectors for teaching purposes. There is no talk of smart boards or iPads for the classrooms, and in my child's classroom there was only 1 computer, and this was for the teacher to use for instruction.... If this school leads, then I fear what low standard of learning is following.
