i don't get it, it was home time and i had my hair out and this teacher told me to tie it up again because im still in "school uniform"... BRO everyone around me had their phone out and still in their uniform!!?? that's so unfair fr like why do they only care about uniform but not our work. Next thing is why would we have to take our religious necklace of?? its not like im going to choke someone with it? thats not respect at all AT ALL. NEXT and this is important, WHY R THEY TUCKSHOP FOOD SO OVERPRICED!?? were students not a millionaire? im not paying 4 dollars for a dry off brand fries. so ridiculous

They spend so much time on uniforms. I was told to take my religious bracelet off its so thin no one noticed it except the teachers. I wore a hair tie on my wrist to try and cover it but the teacher told me to take the hair tie off because she thought it was a bracelet IM SORRY WTF I hate how many rules there are at Corinda and they are saying it's preparing us for the future no if you were wondering to send your kids here DON'T there are so many rules for eg: you can't enter some classrooms without your PLANNER sorry when do we use those and there was a new rule to add satules to the mix they are such bad quality and they won't let us use tote bags from ally ect I think its bs they make crappy things I just hate this school.

I have been at cshs for 2 years now and when i was in my chinese class i told my chinese teacher that i forgot my pencil at home and if i could borrow a pencil from her and she got mad at me just because i did not have a pencil on me like that sounds like a strict teacher to me

Hello, as a student from cshs for nearly 2 years now, and my experience is trash. There are many reasons why my experience has been trash and going downhill.
Firstly, the uniforms. The junior uniforms are really bad looking and dont give students vibes, they give off oldschool vibes instead. The belts for the guys are a danger hazard and the socks for the guys are way too long and for the girls they look too oldschool for a "perfect" school students to wear. Also another reason the earrings for the girls. 3cm? no way, all the girls just because of this rule has to go out and buy a pair or earrings just suitable for the requirement and wasting money for something that has a low risk of danger.
Secondly, the sports uniform and rule of year 8-12 changing into them? So not on and unfair. This is unfair for the year 8-12 students as since the year 7 student are new, they get to stay in their sport uniform for the whole day whereas year 8-12 students have to change?? How is this fair for all other students???
There are many more reasons why this school is a trash school. Thank you very much for reading and hope corinda get better.

As my 2nd year in the school, this school is just horrible, the uniforms can be better, the yondrs is unnecessary, the school rules are way too strict and the school focuses more on the reputation then the students mental and physical health.

I'm in my second year of going to Corinda state high school and so far my experience has been terrible. The school is crazy about uniform and how the students present themselves. For example, the yondr pouch that they introduced, I don't see the point of then as most of the students just put it in their computer protector or just have a flimsy yondr they can open whenever. Thats not even the worst bit, if you lose your yondr at any point during your years there it costs about $10-20 just to buy another one. The uniform in general is really expensive, for example the dance excellence tights my friend had to buy were $55. Don't get me wrong, the education there is pretty well spread with lots of different opportunities and cultural celebrations. But the amount of negative comments and thoughts in general is alarming and I've become very "soft" in ways. Corinda need s to take more care of their students mental health other than the silly unoform we wear 5 times a week.

So far my experience with this school was alright. I have noticed over time that the school upholds their reputation more than their student's freedom. This is evident through their strict yet expensive uniform policies. You will never see someone wear that ridiculous school shirt out of their own free will. You'll also never see the person who just shaved their head at lunch because they'll be in constant detention until their hair grows back. Bags are for some reason all the same and are difficult to find unless you attach something to it. Yondr was an alright idea, until you realised they could open it and use their phones anyways. I think what they were trying to do was to give you the freedom to use your phone, but actually you can't use it. There is legit no difference by just implementing a no phone rule at school.
I couldn't help but realise now the school's two sides. One side is a public representation of what your kid could be by joining this school; in fact, one of their phrases are 'Exceed Your Expectations'. In reality, your expectations can't be met if the school is trying to constantly push you down under by high expectations, varying amounts of homework. I have seen many people have unhealthy amounts of sleep because of the stress put on them. Students compare their grades which also diminishes their own self-worth and gives them even more stress. I am not saying that the school should have low-expectations for their students, I am just saying that some of their policies as well as expectations should be reconsidered since we are still developing. When I ask the teachers sometimes they just say, 'It's the rules, and I just enforce those rules'.
In contrast, some of the teachers I have met are nice. Although there are some teachers that for no reason hate you, there are some teachers where if you work well and treat them with respect, they'll do the same. There are good friends in this school and the atmosphere is most of the time good. The school is kept clean (except the toilets, they always get dirty even when cleaned and should most definitely get renovated) and old buildings get demolished to be replaced with new, air-conditioned buildings. Range of subjects are given for students to do and to help them with their career.
Overall, the policies of this school are used to uphold their reputation while students are expected to follow strict and somewhat ridiculous rules and policies that are followed by harsh punishments such as suspension and detention. I believe the principle should reconsider if these policies are really necessary or not, if punishments are strict, and if they are setting their expectations too high. If they can do this, most definitely they will still have a good reputation by students and they'll be on a good path of giving students the ability to exceed their expectations.
So would I recommend this school to you? Yes, I would, but it will be low in the list of what school your kid should attend to. I believe that the school will be on a better path in the next 5-10 so years, or it will be the same, who knows.

I, a grade 10 student of Corinda State High School personally believe that there are obvious positives and negatives to attending this school.
To begin, there are numerous opportunities to travel globally, as a part of further studies and developing an understanding of communities around the world. Although this is wonderful and leads to student diversity and an experience in which students will never forget, it is extremely highly priced, which doesn’t work well with it’s small time frame for payment installation as well as the already present school fees.
Furthermore, I personally am okay with Yondr, but evidently, students still continue to use their phones during school. If the point of putting a phone within a Yondr pouch is to restrict people from using their phones, what difference does this make to simply implementing a no phone rule? Those who do not care about getting in trouble (the students which already used their phone with the no phone rule implemented) will still continue to use their phones despite Yondr, just with obviously more care. There has been evidence of schools such as QACI which do not have a no phone rule and the students don’t even use their phones as there is no need to “rebel” as such.
With numerous uniform rules applied, the students feel that they are severely restricted and have no sense of personal expression. The uniforms are extremely costly, unattractive and have limited mobility, causing extreme cases of sweating and uniform tears. The senior shirt uniform is almost see through and are not breathable and the boys socks are long and tight, which tends to cause asthma attacks, heat stroke and numerous calls to the hospital. There are extreme restrictions regarding hair and piercings, such as a detention if your hair is down, a detention if your hair is tied up “too high”, a detention if your earrings aren’t the correct size or colour and threat of suspension if your hair has been shaved too thin or is an unnatural colour. This contradicts the message of “being yourself”, which is supposedly what the school is trying to influence us to be. Rather, they would prefer us to be ourselves in a restrictive way, which is also hypocritical as the teachers can wear whatever they want. It is unrealistic to the modern world and it is subjective as what is considered “proper” and a “good uniform” changes depending on the person.
Additionally, the average mental health of students can be recognised as unhealthy and poor. With stress, relationship toxicity and a crazy workload, as well as high expectations and the possibility of home issues, how are students supposed to cope, when our brains haven’t even fully developed yet? Most students don’t achieve the recommended (healthy) amount of sleep and are therefore causing strain on the development of their brain and mind, making them both mentally and physically exhausted. This can cause further issues such as agitation, depression, anxiety and much more. This may further lead to school performance decreasing, which contributes to this cycle significantly. Numerous students live far away from the school and have to wake up early, but that therefore reduces how much time they have to sleep when there is homework and reduces how often they can spend time with their family. There may be other factors involved, such as having a casual or part time job which can also lead to further stress. The pressure put on us to do well has led to an incredible decrease in the value of self-worth and self-assurance, causing students to become insecure. We have had literal parades where a lady yelled at us that if we did not do well, we wouldn’t have a career, basically. I do really well at school, but I have to take antidepressants and see a psychologist due to stress, anxiety, depression, and panic disorder. Imagine what it’s doing to you or your child.
Although I have said numerous negative points, there are a couple positives too.
There are amazing students at this school, a wide variety of sporting opportunities, aircon in a majority of classrooms, lots of trees and natural environment as well as large sporting fields and an array of friendly staff members (although some are not so nice). I will continue my studies here and have had plentiful wonderful memories and great experiences which I could not have gotten from anywhere else. There are many spectacular shows and events such as the feminist meetings, love week and the Chinese New Year dances. There are also many art, science and English excursions which are enjoyable and worth attending. Ultimately, if the school manages to fix the issues above (which can be done quite simply), this school would be on its way to being amazing. Thank you.

This school I attend is honestly crazy about uniform and for a public school it acts a lot like a private school and i honestly think the new rules of having to lock up your phones in a yondr punch is crazy and if u dont they will take your phone and get your parents pick it up and that u can also get suspended for not putting your phone in the punch and if you lose it u have to pay $15 and plus the uniforms are so expensive and if you dont have the proper uniform on u get 2 detentions also it is crazy how in the senior years u need to buy brand new sports and formal uniforms, like some people just dont have the money to buy brand new uniforms and with the prices it's crazy.this school honestly cares more about uniforms then the actual education, yes the school does care about the education but a lot of there focus is on uniform

I go to this school and i think it is very strict and i don't understand why the uniforms has to be so formal and at which point of our lives are we going to dress like that.Teachers are very strict if you don't have a belt or it is not a leather belt witch in my opinion is kind of frustrating. It is also really wired how the school uniform's are very expensive and they expect the children to buy the cloths just for 16 terms of your life, the school is also NOT a private school, for example, School bags $80.In your senior grade you also have to buy new uniforms which i think is ridiculous. In grade It is also meaningless that the school introduce (YONDR) 50% of the kids you the pouch including me, BUT the school will confiscate your phone and keep the phone until a parent of guardian comes to the office and collects the phone. The teachers are also very strict about having a relationship and they do not allow you to hold your partners hand.

I attend this school and tbh i think its pretty bad. The amount of times that i have got in trouble for things i haven't done is ridiculous. This school will try and find the most stupid reasons to suspend you or get you in trouble. Have you ever wondered why this school has the most suspended kids? EXACTLY

This school is a good representation of what you don't want to send your child to. I am completely astounded at the amount of effort that is put into making sure the "correct" uniform is worn. Not only is the uniform extremely expensive for a non-private school they are also very stingy with what they choose to spend their money on. All that the school really cares about (in the eyes of the students and certain parents of the students) is the uniform. It is a very sexist uniform when it comes to girls as they are only allowed to wear skirts (unless doing an athletic activity). They also are not allowed to wear the same ties as the boys , which is strange as the grades before us were allowed to wear this tie. I myself as well as a handful of other girl students were explained to be "slobs" by wearing those ties (said by a teacher). My frustration comes from the fact that girls cannot have hair that is shaved, and boys are not allowed hair that is long or even tied up. I want to know why these teachers are telling us that the extreme uniform we wear is preparing us for when we leave school and go into the work force. I find it very contradictive that a teacher will tell me to take my jewellery off while she is wearing a wedding ring (which is honestly fine with me), a necklace, large glittery earrings and bracelets. If the teachers want us to embrace the uniform they will lead by example. There are other rules with the uniform such as no nail polish, unnatural hair colours, undercuts (for girls), 1 bladed hair cuts (for boys), girls cannot wear tights under their skirts even in the winter only stockings (which in my opinion is like putting water on a grease fire), hair must be up if past your shoulders (I get migraines so I cut my hair shorter so I can leave it down). I just want to know how a teacher can argue about those things to a student while they are dressed the exact same time.
