I just graduated from this school and it was the worst experience ever. Cant wait to leave this hellhole far behind. Every recount of it is miserable, due to the teachers and students alike.

i am a student at birrong girls and honestly this is the worst school ever the teachers treat you like your an object and they just don’t help you. if you ask for help they call you dumb and if you get below 30% on a test you get a letter of concern sent home and the principal is the most disgusting person ever i honestly hate this school and we need a new principal if your a parent reading this DO NOT put your daughter here she will come home crying to you asking you to move her and the rules are even worse if you don’t have the right socks they give you suspended if you don’t tuck in your scarf you get suspended and if you let your hair out you get suspended and also if you forget to bring your PE clothes you get detention and i don’t even wanna get started on the canteen ladies they are beyond disrespectful like once i was buying food and when i was getting my change back she chucked it at me and i had to lean to the floor and get it and if you get something in your order wrong they scream at you like honestly this is disgusting and it’s killing us girls like we go home crying and our parents don’t even believe us, and i don’t even wanna get started about the deputies they are so rude don’t believe you and this school only gives us 2 minutes to get to class and this is a very big school and if your late and you don’t have a late slip they give you detentions and also they do not let you take out your phone for any reason whatsoever and even on recess and lunch and if they catch you on it it gets taken away from you for the night not even your parent can come pick it up, but anyway if you are a parent DO NOT send you daughter to this school i guarantee you, you will find way better schools then this for your daughter.

This is an honest review for parent looking to take their daughters to birrong girls high school(I will try and be as objective as possible)
I was a past student at birrong girls high school.I graduated in 2021 and can say that the transition from the old principal to the current principal was extremely disappointing to see.I don’t believe Mrs Dabaja is intentionally trying to hurt her students but she has created a hostile environment by forcing student to eg.wear crew length white socks ,students are forced to pull their pants up to show that they are complying if they are not they are sent to the principals office to be scolded,Mobile phones are banned,nail extensions or polish are banned,makeup ,down to mascara is banned.There are other schools who have simalar rules )usually private schools) but what makes birrong girls different is that teachers are told in meetings to actively search for these ‘rule breaks’.Many teachers speak badly about the principal with their students as they too don’t want to be performing such juvenile activities and get their students in trouble because their "socks aren’t high enough "under their pants.As the years have gone I unfortunately have to hear from my younger sister how much more it’s gotten worse ,students who wear pants are not allowed to wear any leggings underneath except navy blue stockings and students can not wear tshirts ,skivies etc under their shirts and jumpers “ winter cold” is not an exception.I also believe that it is a new rule for students who wear a headscarf must completely tuck it in and students hairs MUST be tied back.These rules are not under any circumstance treated lightly ,students are sent to offices yelled at,detentions & suspensions if they fail to comply.Mostly by teachers who do not want to do this but have to .I have also been informed that Year 11 &12 are not permitted to use laptops which further disadvantages these students who not all but many coming from 1st generation families in Australia and need as much school assistance as possible.I understand these rules are not executively made by Mrs Dabaja but they did not exist before she became principal at birrong girls high school she has stripped her students of individuality and school spirit.Many other reviews stating she deserved to be harmed are wrong and unlawful but Mrs Dabaja sticks out like a sore thumb in birrong girls high school she is simply unpleasant unlike the deputies Mrs George and Mrs Andrews who are also strict but is visible they have the students best interest in heart.I understand I may have not been quite objective in this review but it is upsetting to see my younger sibling have anxiety to got to school .I do not want to end this on a negative note other reviews state that the teachers are all awful ,yes some are flawed but overall I hadn’t had such a bad experiences and some great teachers like Mr Clark ,Mrs Tariq,Mrs Zomaya,Mrs Wright(An angel), Mr thanos, Mrs Anthony,Mrs winchcombe ,Mr atteya ,Mrs subramanium those are just on the top of my head.These are genuinely Great teachers I’ve that had helped me get through high school.So parents who are looking to take their daughters to birrong girls please heed to my advise ps.if I could take my sister out of this school I would.

Some teachers are very nice and encouraging however there are some teachers that are slightly rude and unfair.
-Always some kind of bullying, toxic people and people who judge you too much.
- There have been some form of racism in this school by the TEACHERS! some of them are just too rude and insensitive, why? because teachers have said the 'n' word and have made students uncomfortable (this happened twice in different situations), this is straight up unacceptable.
- I received and N award for not doing my word even though it's not my fault, I told the school I will be on holidays and will miss out on some school days, yet even though they know that they still sent one, I feel like the school just hates me :(
To be completely honest, there is more downs than ups in the school.
My advice for those attending this school is to just work hard and stay positive!
Despite all my negative commenting, the school can be good sometimes.
If I had to rate this out of 5, I would rate this school 3.5 out of 5. The school is very bad but has some positives.

This school is okay. Really it just depends. Some of the teachers suck and have an attitude problem, whilst only caring about perfect grades and picking favourites. Other teachers are cool, they actually care about you and help you as much they can, they laugh and joke around whilst still doing the work.
Same goes with the students. Some students do go round gossiping and spreading hate bout other girls, calling names and using serious stuff such as mental illness, racism and gay stuff as a joke. Other students can be really loyal or just a good friend, they can make you laugh and make you feel belonged.

this school sucks. All the students do is gossip and everyone is soo fake, u literally cant trust anyone and everyones so judgemental. the students will use racism, gay stuff and mental ilness as a joke. you get called names and everything for trying to help yourself. and i could go on and on.
Most teachers don't care about you only about getting high marks on everything and being some perfect student. They will get mad if you breathe too loudly and if you ask for help you get lectured and it goes on your report that you are inconnsistent... im so sick of the the teachers and students in this school

This school sucks all the teachers are so rude.
Once I got something special confiscated off me without been given any chances to put it away and at the end of the lesson I asked for it back and my teacher didn't give it back to me saying he was keeping it and it's his now whilst putting it in his bag. The school doesn't care if the teachers do something to the students but if us teenagers mess up or slip up once were not good were this and were that.

This school doesn’t care about education they just care about masks and behaviour the teachers wait for me to do one little thing and they make a big deal out of it and it’s draining and when you tell them how you feel they don’t care they just laugh at you. Once I got onto trouble and I was in the office my friend spoke to me and I told my friend not to talk or I will get introuble and miss cross saw me and she didn’t give me the chance to explain myself and she told me I don’t want to hear it and she organised a meeting with my parents and made a huge deal about it and she kept me in the office for nearly the whole term and I didn’t go to class that whole term. They focus on the tiniest things u did and make a big deal. My pass teacher doesn’t let me ask her questions when I put my hand up she tells me no questions or hand down or I’ll answer it later and she never does and she’s rude because she tells me and my friends off for something the whole class is doing and she tells us I don’t know how your going to get a job or how your going to cope in the real world. She also tells us girls I would be saying lots of nasty things to yous but I would get introuble which is messed up to say to a teenager. During lockdown my marks went up and I was getting lots of good comments and letters sent home. When it was time to go to school I walked in thinking I would have a fresh start but the first thing miss cross tells me is I don’t want any trouble with you, one thing and I’m going to send you home and ring up your parents. Tha day a friend asked if I got the vaccine and I said no and she asked me why and I told her my dad doesn’t let me and the teacher heard me and she told the principal and during lunch the principal comes to me and tells me off and she tells me why you going around the whole school telling them that your an anti-vaccer when I told one girl that I didn’t get it and she treated me like dirt saying I was this close to organising a meeting with your parents to discuss ur poor behaviour when I done nothing that day. Every single day something like this happens and it’s affecting me a lot and i really want to move schools. Today I got a conduct card for having my mask on the wrong way and miss cross made a big deal about it saying I’m going to ring your parents and one more thing with your mask I am going to suspend you and when most of the teachers talk to me I feel so much hatred coming from them and they wonder why I don’t want to look at them when they talk to me. This school makes you scared to be yourself or do anything.

Let me just report this one incident to you. The school has a strict policy where if you don’t bring a calculator to class you get into trouble. You have three chances before your sent to the principal’s office. One girl had forgotten to bring her calculator on the first chance and she was sent to the principal. And so the girl’s dad contacted the school saying that this was unfair and explained that the reason why she has forgotten her calculator was before they had gone on a family trip the day before and the girl had used her school backpack to supply resources. Guess what, just for this one simple thing, the dad has gotten banned off school grounds.

This school is the type of school that makes you feel stupid, they constantly put you down. They don’t encourage you or uplift your spirits. Let me just tell you something and if you don’t think this school is bad after that then I don’t know what else to say. An incident occurred and there are a lot of witnesses to this. A Non-Muslim teacher in a classroom brought out the Quran, which is a religious Holy book, and placed it upon the bin. She then asked a student who she thought was disrupting the class, to place her hand on top the Quran and testify against her Holy Book and her religion that she wasn’t doing anything wrong. Can’t you see how messed up that is?! Like, why even bring religion into the discussion in a secular school even? Please, I advice you against sending your daughter to this school.

About 99.9% of the students are Labanese. There’s barely any diversity and those few students who are aussies or from another cultural background are way more predisposed to getting left out and bullied. It sickens me to the core. The labanese students need to step up and get their act together, and stop acting all high and mighty because of their cultural background! This isn’t for everyone but even the innocent students will converse with the bullies and do a lot of the leaving out, or they will act as bystanders. Just because you’re labanese, does not make you superior! You people already have a bad reputation and I can see why

This school is shit. The parents who are reviewing this school as good or above don’t know any better as they don’t actually interact with the school at all. This is an honest review and let me tell you that I am a new student here and this was my first day at this school and I can say that I left in a bad mood and not wanting my to return at all. Yes, do a reality check; the principal is shit and is patronising. She is like Ms.Trumbull from Matilda. I was seated inside the office the entirety of the day, for 5 hours, no one came to receive me and so I was daydreaming. Then all of a sudden the principal looks in my face and and she starts criticising a girl she doesn’t even know about the school elective I chose, speaking in a manner that heavily suggested that I was stupid and couldn’t do those subjects. When I told her I was sure I wanted to do English, she was all like, “thank you for interrupting me before I could finish,” and then she goes on to say that I need to be qualified. The whole time she was yelling at me the second my eyes strayed from hers, as a teacher was approaching us to join our discussion, I briefly glanced at her and this principal is all, “She’s not talking to you, I am! You know what, I’m gonna stop talking to you until you can look me in the eye!” The school shamelessly takes possession of your mobile phones overnight if it even slips out of your bag and the teachers will get mad if your mask slips briefly off your nose, they’ll literally kick you of the compound. So far, not good and I definitely do not want to return tomorrow.

Dabaja is very nice yes she is a bit strict on uniform but that's because she want to be proud and make you look nice i have many friends and they are all nice to me! and i don't think the principle should've been slated i feel bad she did not deserve it what so ever whoever did do that to her must 100% get a punch straight back.also please don't hat on the new no phone policiy or the new uniform or the new principle. be grateful your parents are giving you an education so you can be succsseful in the future

I rate Birrong bad because of the new principal, she's so strict and bad it is unbelievable. All she cares about is uniform and if students are wearing nails or makeup. I’m a student in yr 9. The school had banned mobile phone use. i have constantly had substitute teachers this year.all of which they are going teaching different things in the same subject. It’s hard to keep up with all the worksheets that give.when we say this to our normal teacher for the subject. She’d blame it all on the students. I have a lot of work to do in regard to school.barely have free time for sport or family time. Sometimes I’d forget to finish off my work. I would usually go to giggle docs and finish it during my spare time. I can’t do that anymore. They are so strict about mobile phones when they need to be more concerned about the standard of teaching in our school

Through many years birrong girls high school has had a bad reputation of some what if it was true or false but in my opinion looking now as a year 11 student of 2019 I can say it has changed dramatically. Yes some of the teachers are not all that great but that is not all of the stuff in fact I have had some great times with many teashers that are so helpful and trying to help as much as they can it’s sometimes not the teachers fault they can’t control the class or give help it’s simply some of the students making it hard for teachers to do their best at the job they are given. Through out many schools if private or public there is its ups and downs the negatives and positives and that is normal. At the end of the day it’s your child that makes the effort and strives to be the best in that school if it was the best or the worst school known so before judging the school for a small group of people who make the school look bad look on the other side and see the positives and not only the negatives. Also through many years as a school I think birrong is improving year after year.

The school barely cares about the students if they learn or not but rather the school reputation. The teachers are obnoxious and barely do there jobs correctly. And when they do is either when there is a guest or the principal passing by. The rest of the teachers are nice, who want to help the class. Although from my experience when we had a teacher she left and instead we had substitute for the rest of the year. We never understood anything he only cared about a certain portion of the students just like most of the teachers. They mostly care about our uniform and how we are wearing it, if its not worn properly they'll force you to change as they have a room with all sizes of each item for the uniforms, or you get detention. The PE staff are the worse as they judge the students more than they teach. We cannot come to school in our sport uniform because of our "community" so we have to change in the toilets or an empty room. The school will lecture and yell at you more than teach you. if you have a teacher you don't learn from good luck because there is nothing you can do. the students aren't that bad but honestly how do you expect them to act when you need to worry more on passing a test. There is other opportunity's where your daughter can actually learn and Birrong isn't what your looking for.

I am a Ex student that used to go to this school, I am not sure what modifications they have made since I have left but from my personal experience majority of the students are chaotic and disrespectful. The canteen's food was extremely overpriced, extremely un-nutritious, and most of it was microwaved and overall didn't taste good. To make matters worse the canteen ladies are beyond rude and serve the food with attitude and they once made a girl cry. They also are unprofessional and only had 2 canteen ladies working with 4 lines of hungry teenagers that want to be served. Next was the science teachers most of them were over all rude and snobby and will pick on student's most of the time making there school days horrible. As well as some of the PE teachers were rude. The overall teachers pick on students, are very stubborn, rude, and mean making most of students day horrible. The TAS staff were also extremely rude and are overall bully's, and that was one of the main reasons I move schools. A particular teacher would just always pick on me, which resulted in me being suicidal and wanting to not go to school. This schools main issue is the teachers, most of which made my time at the school miserable- even though I was just a shy girl that never used to talk or be rude, but still got picked on for some odd reason. Please for your child's health and well being don't send them here!

I am a student at Birrong girls high school, and it is an amazing school. I go to school with a big bright smile on my face looking forward to a new day filled with joy and hope knowing that I have a 6 hour school day of many educational opportunities to fulfill. The teaching staff is spectacular, they are so kind to all students and treat everyone with respect and care. The teachers teach in so much depth and provide so much useful information to complete school activities and also to go through life as a young adult. The library is filled with knoledge and power beneath the thousands of books in which are positioned in such persuasion and accuracy. I love how in role call we as a community get the fantastic opportunity to read as our lives get busier each day and finding the time to read and extend our literacy skills becomes more and more difficult it accomplish. The canteen is filled with such nutritional and healthy food that is so affordable and filling with a variety of fresh foods. There are many extra curricular activities for students to join. These include the environmental club, anime club, amnesty team which is hosted by zonta international and many more educational activity’s. This is such an amazing school and I highly recommend.

The school should change the year 7 uniform. Know one wear full length uniform dress only in primary school!!!
They should cut the top off and keep the bottom dress wear with a white shirt. Then it would look better and can last for another year or so.

It's a good school, the ignorant only find it displeasing as they are blinded by their urge to complain about circumstances which they are in control of. It they didn't like the school, they have plenty other options, but instead they brood over the circumstances at hand. Maybe if they found another place, all this hate could be rid of and this school could be showered in positivity again.

Most of the teachers are very discouraging at the school, there are certain exceptions (around 10 teachers for the whole school) that actually do what they are supposed to do - which is their job. Other than those 10 amazing and supportive teachers, the rest are horrible! They do not understand students needs, do not cater to students who want to study hard, and cannot control horrible classes filled with bullies. I feel as if the surrounding community of birrong girls high school really farm a large percentage of bullies. These do not improve the standards of a small percentage of good students who just would like to do well in the school. I think the school would really improve if they removed any disruptive students in order for their good students to learn. Maybe then and only then will their ATAR average increase.
