I have only the highest praise for Holy Spirit. the teachers are committed and generous, giving everything they can to ensure the students are cared for and challenged to develop their talents and skills and to give of their best in every avenue of college life. I've always believed that we get out of life what we are prepared to put into it, and the students who give of their best at Holy Spirit are the ones who benefit the most. I always feel sorry for the students and parents who blame the school for what is often their own failure to contribute - the people who expect everything without contributing anything and then badmouth the school. I was very lucky in my teachers and friends and want to express my gratitude for all I've received.

Disgusted. The school has gone down hill since the new principal and new Assistant Principal. Student well being is not a priority. The new well being Coordinator is more worried about her high heels than student welfare. Many good teachers have left leaving the school with staff that can't teach and have no class room management skills. My son is up to his 4th maths teacher and 2nd science teacher, both can not control the class and have been unable to build rapport with the students. They target my son and other students and blame them for things they have no proof of. The Assistant Principal sends kids home because of their hair cut and tells them not to return, yet there are numerous students there with similar haircuts and they remain untouched. Aren't they suppose to be encouraging kids to go to school??? What a mess!!! This school is failing the students they are supposed to be caring for and educating. Shame Shame!!

Ok. I have to say this is a great school....for refugees (they’ve never know what to expect), for first and second generation students, and for parents who put their own convenience and priorities above their children (I have spoke to a few who were happy that school is only a few streets, few bus stops or a few train stops from home)...
The priority of the administration is student numbers...they accept any body for enrolment. And I mean ANYBODY. (Jew, Muslim, atheistic, all welcome).the more students, more revenue..who cares who they are, and what contribution.
Forget the Catholic title on the church or school papers! (The teachers push climate change- yes, we are affecting climate and can somehow change or alter global warming and temperatures, not SOVEREIGN GOD, we need to pay more taxes....etc.).
My son went only into year 7, and by mid year I was looking for another school. He is no longer going to the school.
Teacher / parent communication is kept to a minimum. If you call the receptionist, she will pass on messages and good luck if they call. I had to persist in leaving 3-4 messages until someone calls back with my concern.
What about an email contact list?
What about weekly class updates ?
When I spoke to 6, 7 or his class peers about their thoughts on the classes, teachers, school. Most dreaded half the classes.
This is not schools fault, as HSC entry levels into teaching has dropped to below failure levels; and some who still didn’t qualify for teaching, even after failing the HSC enrolling into bridging course to alllow access into teaching courses and graduate as teachers. some are in this school (and clearly should not be teaching).
One teacher yells through the whole class lesson- even as she tries to instruct/ teach students? All students hated the subject and teacher.
I was warned by my sons primary school teacher not to send my son to Holy Spirit; however I gave up the early year of high school for a Catholic run institution; that doesn’t even Have one teacher who would dare enrol any of their own children/ relatives at the school.
Best decision was to leave this for new Australians, and lazy, ignorant parents

Some renovations around the school in the previous years, it's good to see some improvement and properly lit classrooms, they should make a follow up with the other buildings especially because of the heat, most classrooms still rely on one fan. Most teachers are great and effective in their teaching, some are inspiring and others just keep giving the children research tasks and presentations it would be good but there's a lot of behavioural issues among the students. Bullying is prominent and never stops. A couple of days ago my child told me about a fight involving students and how one of the boys involved left with a fresh and still bleeding bruise on his cheek. It's the apathy of everyone in this school that needs to be improved on the most

This school needs strong leadership from the top.
My child is in year 11,tells me the teachers are unhappy, it appears they lack motivation but nothing is being done, they have some great teachers we don't want to lose them.

I have worked at HSC for over 10 years and can say with honestly you won't find a school that has more caring staff - we go well above and beyond to deliver excellent teaching to students and can say from personal experience that we are above state average in most subjects for the HSC and student growth is one of the highest in the Sydney Catholic Schools area. Add to this the fact that we cater for many learning needs across all areas to students who are almost wholly speaking languages other than English at home - we do a remarkable job with these kids! There are many exceptional teachers who bring the kids as far as they want to go. I don't know who the people are who wrote these reviews but they are not true - and a blatant misrepresentation of a quality school that for me embodies what a caring and supporting school community should be.

It's not the office ladies . Parents should be worried about its the teachers . Holy Spirit needs to really focus on hiring good teachers .

The only upside to this school are the relationships that i have formed ... education wise ...teachers have failed to inspire motivation in their students and do not take into consideration that some people need to learn at their own pace to absorb information effectively ... there is nothing interesting to learn about and nothing put in place to help students to choose their own path in life .. it is only what they want to teach us ..

Real bad office ladies and most teachers are terrible they just expect us to know everything or teach ourselves from the "textbooks" therefore many students are failing there subjects! They should also bring in more young teachers :/

I am amazed at the conclusions of the parent's review from May 27 2014. I have taught at HSC for12 years and rate it the best school I have taught. He/she has quoted statements made by supposed teachers. I am sure that if the question was asked of may of the other parents their answers would have been vastly different. If there have been examples of any looseness in communication, it would have been quite minimal.

This school have excellent facility however disappointing when lack of communication between staff becomes apparent which then impacts on students learning opportunities. It appears that this school is lacking in many ways in terms of management and engagement with wider community!

The school is amazing with extra-curricular activities, such as Cross Country, and are very involved with the multi-cultural environment that Holy Spirit College is located in but, the school extremely lacks in academics, especially with examinations. The school fails to let students know about what content to study in for examinations and lessons that are coming up to the exam, the teachers do not revise over class work because they believe that "the student should already know what is in the exam". Also, assessments handouts are not trustworthy, as it gives incorrect dates (that are way off to when an assessment task is held compared to the date mentioned on the handouts) as to when assessment tasks are held ? This shows pure laziness and lack of communication with other teachers. How can teachers expect students to do well in assessment tasks, if teachers choose to not teach in the "correct manner"?
