I must advise any potential parents looking to send their children to this school to think twice. My son who is very academic and has a very healthy social life has witnessed several concerning issues on several occasions in the four years he’s been there.
I have approached principal of these issues and always been assured that the problems will be rectified however,my son keeps coming back to me with the same problems.
I believe the commission homes in the local area attribute to these problems namely smoking(vaping) on school grounds,smoking pot, bullying and gangs in the school along with my son witnessed someone with a knife at school. I advised the principal of this and nothing was done as a few weeks later the same culprit had the knife again.
It’s come to the point where I will be reporting all this to the police and education department and if nothing is done I will take my son to another school as it has become unsafe.
The principal who has been there for a few years has made some positive changes (new school uniform) plus removal of vcal in school to detract kids from less socio economic backgrounds to attend however I believe it’s all smoke and mirrors.
Sorry but I feel compelled to let all prospective parents know this before making a decision.

Unfortunately many of the things that made Ashwood great have been removed in the last year. There are some truly wonderful teachers still there but I wonder for how long as the school is going backwards fast. Yes they have a fancy new uniform, but sadly the uniform has become more important than education. They did have a terrific vertical curriculum program which made the school special but that has also been removed so now they are no different than every other school. They used to cater to every student's individual needs and abilities as much as possible but now it's only a very select few and all the others are treated as sheep. I would not recommend Ashwood over any other school in the area. The attributes that used to make it so much better have all been taken away.

My son goes there on the first day he had his phone confiscated for it being on school grounds. It was in his bag. The principle is extremely bigoted and rood.

I heard that gov is going to spend about 10 million for Ashwood Secondary College, for construction of administration, new learning areas and a gymnasium.
This is a significant investment in the infrastructure of the College. This will put ASC at the forefront of secondary schooling in the region as Mount / Glen Waverley.

The performance is good and Staff is nice and helpful
