This school doubtlessly has its rough areas overwhelming the positive, as there are so many more negatives to choose from. The school does nothing to help challenged learners or students who excel in certain areas or even all round. The students themselves have been pretty terrible in my experience, as most just spend their time smoking in bathroom stalls. Bullying is also something many students are vulnerable to and judging by varies other reviews, this is very agreeable. I would recommend you don't waste your time with this school as it will only continue to get worse the longer you stay there.

to start off, most of the teachers at this school are rude and have no cares for the wellbeing, safety and learning of the students. all the staff care about are uniforms. the bathroom facilities at the school are horrendous with bullying language written on walls, half of the toilets dont have toilet seats as they have been pulled off or have no toilet paper available. for the prices care givers pay for their children to go to this school they should be doing better than this. almost everyday my children come home telling me about constant physical fights, as well as teachers not letting them go to the bathroom when needed. as for the yonder pouches, i believe the children should have their mobile phones at break as emergency’s happen and i need to be able to contact my child thought the school day. most of the students at this school have no respect for others. the school seems like a prison, with spikes on top of fences and a button you have to press to get in and out of the gates. the front gate even has cameras. kids are skipping classes and not wanting to go to school for a good reason.

I believe there are good and bad elements of every school, however Meridan is still trying to ride the wave of winning a “Best School” award half a decade a ago. There’s a deep seeded problem with the faculty, and it’s clearly showing down the ranks with teaching staff. There are still a couple of incredible Educators left at this school, but they are few and far between. We have experience with a few difference schools around the World due to my partners employment, and this is by far the most poorly operated. If your child needs extra assistance, no matter how much they advertise their support, it is non existent. Then on the other side if you have a child who excels not only academically but in other areas as well, this is also not the School. Meridan’s SRC fees are higher than any other School in QLD and in return your children receive sub standard facilities, no support, average teachers and a poorly run school, not to mention the constant uniform changes. Mediocre is the Meridan College’s “Modus Operandi”. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

I think Meridan is a wonderful school. It offers our children a wide variety of options and all the teachers are caring and happy to help. Meridan caters for all students interests also which we love and it great being apart of the community it offers also.

Teachers who think they know it all, when dealing with behaviours. Not interested if child has any learning difficulties won’t give extra support where needed. Going gets tough send them home. Wouldn’t recommend if your child needs that little extra to cope with school.

I'm a parent of MSC students and am also an employee of the school. The thing I love most about the college is the amazing people who come here to study/work/play. The facilities are second to none and I'm convinced that the college will continue to grow from strength to strength. It's sad to read the toxic posts from people who have had difficulties with the school. I know personally, that with any given situation, staff will go the extra mile to try and settle disputes and resolve conflict. Sometimes however, people will disagree on resolution and go their separate ways.For those who have left the college, staff will always wish you the very best and their true desire is that you grow and mature into fantastic, resilient, caring adults.

I think Meridan College is an excellent school and I was shocked to read some of the reviews before me as I have 3 children go to Meridan and all have been looked after and natured by the schools excellent teaching staff and friendly office staff. The uniform policy is firm but I think that is good as it teaches students to be proud of the school they attend. I would highly recommend Meridan College.

This school is the worst school my daughter is getting bullyed and coming home crying ever day cause this school did nothing from Monday to Wednesday and like 45 people came up too her and she walked away but they followed her so she punched one on the girls and I high five her cause this school doesn’t care about shit

I am a year 9 student that has been the subject to bullying since week 8 of term 2... After being cornered by 7 girls and being called names etc. I went to the Community Leaders (CL’s) and told them what had happened. I was then told that these students would be spoken to but by the end of the week a disaster happened! I was sitting down eating lunch when 30-50 odd kids come around to where I sit. They all stared at me and I didn’t want that to be happening so I walked away. They followed me and told me to stop being a “pussy ass bitch” and come around the corner as I was out the front of the CL’s office... They approached me and in self defence I hit one of the cowards in the face and went into the CL’s office. They had said that they hadn’t spoken to any of the original perpetrators and that got me fuming. I was being verbally attacked by a group of 30-50! I was then not allowed out of the office for the rest of the day... During that time a teacher who had just spoken to the girl I hit come up to me and started to yell. Why am I know the bad guy. They were the ones calling me a pussy when it was 50-1. They contacted my mum but didn’t say what had happened, only that I was safe... I am now having to change schools and get the police involved. I am a student leader at Meridan and I know hitting someone in the face is very good but if 50 kids corner you, what are you supposed to do? The teachers said that I would have to be put in a seperate room all day for a couple of weeks until everything cools down. NOT ON MERIDAN STAFF. NOT ON!

Our child just started Prep at Meridan State College and we are so happy. His teacher and support staff are really nice.
The children in his class are kind and happy. We are very pleased with how he is learning.

so im a female in grade 10 btw
this school has good parts and bad parts- stress and bullying almost happens to everyone and i can tell you that for a fact, students will be students, the staff isnt to blame for the way the school is.
i will say, i get hot really really easily, and those formal uniforms are hot as, to the point where i feel like just taking off the blouse. its ridiculous, the school needs to freaking fix that!! and the material is very very uncomfortable, you either get a size big or have it fit you but then sweat is very visible.
i get for safety reasons why the school doesnt want you wearing too big of hooped earrings and dangly earrings but its bizarre when youre told to take your SECOND ear piercing out. like, come on, im sorry but its not hurting anyone, if girls wanna wear bracelets, let them wear bracelets, if they want to wear nail polish, let them. because some girls feel even prettier with those accessories. some girls feel more feminine with those accessories on like myself.
now, for the staff, i believe the staff isnt to blame, theyre just following the rules, doing their job, if they tell you to take your nail polish off, its because theyre following rules. and every individual teacher has their own personality, i was reading some of these comments and people were grouping teachers into one, bad category, that's not the case, some teachers are stricter than others, some want to see you succeed, why do you think some of those teachers come into class with a bright smile on their faces? i have this one teacher and she is so lovely, she is so motivated to teach because she loves what she does. the reason why teachers get strict is because students keep on talking or they're just playing their phones not learning.
as for the bullying thing, if youre a parent, just teach your vhild to be strong and ignore the bully if theyre just name calling. if they get physical, the teachers will help. kids only get bullyed if the kids let them.
take myself for instance, i got called fat numerous times, then i got really insecure. but what ive learnt from it, is that some students are just insecure themselves, i dont have to be this stick figure that all these girls look like. and i know im not fat, i dont need to sit in a wheelchair, i can walk through doors and sit on seats without breaking them. me becoming healthy is my choice. and you know whaat, i thought to myself, that was enough, i wasnt going to let them bully me. if they see that you have no reaction, theyll get bored and just leave you alone. trust me.
so as you can see, there are good things and there are bad things about the school.

I am a yr 10 student and this is now my second time writing a review on this page and they obviously didn’t like what I said, this so called school is absolutely ridiculous and their formal uniforms that you have to wear during summer are just stupid it’s like they want us to faint, the teachers don’t care about the students unless your white and they treat anyone that isn’t white like trash, they tell us to tie our hair up and take facial piercings out like it’s actually affecting our school work and yet multiple teachers get to wear whatever they want, I recommend you to not send your children here unless you want to be abused by the school constantly.

this school is horrendous, they care for nothing except for how they look to the government, QLD school of the year my ass, i would rate currimundi primary school higher then this dump, principals and deputy's don't care for the students well being, they rush everything and put them into nearly impossible time frames that you will not reach unless you are a star student which at this school that is hard to achieve with expectations that are rarely reached, it is hard to believe this school charges the amount they do for the job they do in return, the only people in the school that care for the students and do good for the students are unpaid which i find kind of funny, i do not recommend this school to anyone

I am in year 11 and I dropped out last year for mental health. Let me tell you. This school has caused many students of all ages feel anxious and depressed. When I left at first they didn’t let me until one teacher pushed it because she knew it was what was best for me at that time. Only for me to come back to her being fired. I have been tormented with my friend and I from a girl who has always been complained about and they have done nothing about it. I have been verbally abused in front of the teacher just for the teacher to say for me to grow up and get over it. I was shocked. Considering the news is covering so much bullying in school I can’t believe the one school who portray themselves as “bully free” “top school” “CARING” are really infact deceiving, hypocrites, stuck up uncaring jerks. Please do not send your child here.

I recently moved from interstate for work and chose Meridan College for my children and it was a great decision as the school has been a breathe of fresh air and my children have settled in exceptionally well. The teachers are caring and supportive and the families living in the area are so friendly. Definitely recommend this school to any new families.

I would definitely recommend this school. This school has amazing opportunities for all students to excell in. I chose for my kids to attend this school because they understand the rules and expectations set by the schooling staff. And they know that if they get into trouble they did something wrong, not an uncalled for diciplinary act. If this school was bad, why would it have been named "School of the year". for a public school to win this title up against private schools like ST Johns and Pacific Lutheran College.
But most of all if this school was as bad as everyone says it is, why would there be 2800 students attending this year.
P.S it is continuously growing each year.

i do not recommend this school, first off, the students are too judgemental and suppurate themselves into different social structures and don't include others, second, the teachers do not do their job to teach and especially the substitutes, they make you right out and take notes while the teachers would have made you do a more complex format of that exact teaching skill, and three, the money is ridiculous! The tuckshop prices are ridiculous! The uniforms are not comfortable or compatible for school conditions! i do not recommend!

Named school of the year Meridan State College in 2015 I found the school had a culture of staff bullying students of all ages. Staff bullying parents.The school dont support those students and families that have any kind of disadvantage or disability. If your child doesnt fit the mould they will ostrisize, belittle and demean them. I am amazed more children havent comitted suicid or suffer severe depression.
The financial staff are like debt collectors. Rude and obnoxious!
The guidence councillers are think they work for Military Police.
The LDC is full of people that got no
idea what theyre doing.
The cost of attending this school from prep to year 12 is approximately
44k.
So
Don't send your child there if your child is a free thinker.
Don't send your child there if
they have Autism ADHD or any disability.
Don't send your child there if
they are black brown yellow or any other colour but white.
Don't send your child if your a single parent living in State Housing NRAS or Community Scheme-because you and your children are labelled losers.
The school is more akin to Hitlers Youth than a State School. You got to have to be rich, be white and middle class to fit into this School.
This school sucks!

I definitely don't recommend going to this school, it's a public school trying to be a private school with extremely strict rules. Very few good teachers as well.

Can't say load enough this is a Terrible school, teachers bullying, humiliating and belittling students of all ages, no care of welfare for the students unless they are star students, if you don't fit the mould you don't stand a chance!
All they care about is money and uniforms, most senior staff have no idea how to teach teenagers, lots of lies between staff and parents and parents are not welcome, never return emails or phone calls unless they need money from you! when parent has a issue over staff they back each other up and lie to defend each other. Staff are swapped around constantly so No security for children especially in primary school. Main director couldn't care less about students so long as school looks good!! Lots of children have been diagnosed with depression and actually self harm because of the way the school treats them. Children of all ages deserve not to have their self esteem damaged! I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone may look good from the outside, take it from a mother with a few children who have been in this school primary and secondary!!!

Absolutely awful! They are totally mendacious, demeaning, deceitful - the lies are a disgrace! Emails not answered, calls not returned, teachers and students are bullied by particular principal in secondary and the head is just false and great at avoiding, being totally dishonest, bully.
Would not recommend this school if you actually care about how your children are treated and cared for!

Great place to work! As far as I'm concerned, the staff I know are caring professionals who want the best for their students. Most students are well behaved and dress standard is high. I can chose to send my kids to several schools in the area, but have chose Meridan State College as the school they will attend.

It an awful institution! If you care about your children their welfare and education don't bother here!
They are unfair, unjust, rude, TOTALLY DISHONEST & DECEITFUL! Totally inconsistent, ridiculous rules, emails not acknowledged or replied to, phone calls not returned amd they simply don't care! Parents unwelcome! All about looking good!

This is a pretty bad school! I am a student in year 8 at this school. The teachers at this school do nothing to suit the learning styles and abilities of the students. There is no different way to learn according to these teachers other than to shut up and copy of the board. Exams are meant to be about what you learnt, not about what your grade is. That's why there is a lot of students who cheat at this school because they are afraid of the mark they will be getting thinking it is their fault but actually it is the teachers. Also many rules are just uncalled for. My little brother who was in Year 3 at the time was given a uniform pass for wearing socks with a blue ring round them. You cannot take your own bag to this school but many people find that difficult because it is 50 dollars to buy one which is not ideal for every family. Also, I was in the school library talking to my younger brother and his friends when I get shouted at by the librarians for talking to the junior schoolers. I bet in some families the only time they get to see their siblings is in school. Please don't waste your time at this school.
