I think mitchell high school is great however I feel that some of the teachers don’t have a great way of teaching students that will help and benefit them. it’s a great school but some teachers just don’t know how to teach. Reading of the white board and talking throughout the whole lesson, no student will learn anything.

Probably one of the worst 6 years of my life. I am thankful for the few teachers that had a positive impact on my life. Many other students from my time agree on this. However, for the rest of the staff I do understand that being a teacher is hard work but so is looking up towards those who lead the way. Entering the working world and being told of my own capacity versus my high school days, I can tell you Mitchell High School is probably not the best environment to bring up your teenage kids to tackle the world.
Bullying, racism and not receiving enough encouragement to challenge yourself, these were the biggest experiences I've had from this school.
I am successful now. And I work as a high school teacher now. But this was all after being left in the dark and only until I graduated from high school did I finally see my own potential and can pass on these experiences to the next generation.
I went back to Mitchell High School after graduating, and while all the staff were nice, the Principal was a little rude towards me. Has the school changed? I don't know as I'm now an adult and not a teenage kid anymore. I am curious to hear experiences from current kids, particularly those who have changed schools and can make comparisons.
Solely based on my own experiences I would never recommend this school to my own kids for fear of them being bullied, having racial slurs thrown at them and no support from teachers academically and mentally.

seriously, the people complaining are just students that didn't even give the effort to study and are too observant on teachers: so what if they have accents, or care more about uniform? for real, if you guys showed up with the wrong socks or the wrong jumper, what do you expect? for you to get off the hook? if you never did wrong stuff in the first place, then you would experience more education and learning. you're just trying to make up an excuse so you can call this a bad school. as for the bullying part, I agree. there's quite a few incidents involving weed, smoking, drugs, harassment, bullying-- but nothing is done. "yeah we'll do this n that," can't even trust the principal anymore or whatever. teachers are kind if you get to know them. don't be rude to them, and they won't be rude to you.

Ever since I moved from this school to another school, I realised how much of a bad school this was. At my new school, the teachers actually help push students towards their goal, whereas most of the teachers at this school don't even care about students goals or their grades. They'd yell at me for getting bad grades, but never actually help me achieve higher grades. The only good thing I got out of this school was friends. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone unless you want to be scolded for having bad grades and the wrong coloured socks. If you want no help and witness a poor education, this school is for you.

This school cares more about our uniform and when I say uniform I mean OUR SHOCKS! more than our education which is absolutely shocking. They have awful teachers who can not control a class or teach in a way we understand and are more actively engaged in class lessons. The Principal as well as the staff put on a act that they do care about the act of bullying at the school but all they do is they push the victims to the side and don't take any action towards this matter all they do is they call you in their office say that they will find a soloution and help you but as soon as you step out of their office they act as if nothing ever happened to you! which is disgusting!. They always have the staff's back when it comes to situations between the student and the class teacher and when you take the matter to the principal the staff lie about what happened making out that you made it all up for attention. The male staff are pedophiles! which leaves students so disgusted and disturbed therefore not wanting to even set a foot in the
gate. The 5 years of schooling here has been a nightmare I would never recommend this school to any future students thinking about attending here I can't wait to get out of this shot hole of a school.

Possibly the worst school you could go to. The staff don't do their job properly they're just a bunch of idiots who have no clue as to what they are doing especially the principal. Who suspends the person who stopped a bully and doesn't suspend the bully ? That is disgusting the staff act like they care about bullying but they don't !

It was a great school when I first started however dramatically fell as I progressed through the years. For English we would have Indian teachers with such thick accents it was near impossible to understand what they were saying.

As a student in 1965 to 1970, the school was BRAND NEW. First year spent their 1st year @ Walters Rd Primary in temporary buildings. I started 1st year @ Mitchell. New teachers 50% just out of college. 50% of our kids were of different nations. It was just great. Being invited to tea was very special indeed yum yum. I believe I got a great education. As a parent of three, two of which went to this school, ill aways regret seeing them here. Bland teaching schemes, they focus on the wrong things, and they don't handle the kids right at all. Choose somewhere else parents beware!

My daughter got sent home for wearing the wrong pants when her regular pants were dirty. She is in a senior year and every day is critical, yet she gets sent home due to her pants being 'too tight'. This school focuses on the stupid things but doesn't realize they are forgetting about the quality of education. Mortified with our experience as of yet, changing schools soon.

My child attended this school for 2 and a half years and from what I have seen, heard and experienced with this school has all been terrible. Lack of care shown by majority of teachers, including the deputies and principle. My son was bullied and nothing was done to solve the problem. It took 4 meetings for the deputy to do something about the problem. This school claims to be great and very 'high class', when the teachers don't put their back in to it!! I could not have been more horrified than when I attended a parent-teacher night and the teacher of my son's class didn't remember who he was or how he was performing. Wake up Mitchell High! Moving my son to Hills Sports was the best decision we ever made.

As a parent of two students who attend this school, my children find the delivery of education boring, there is no enthusiasm from the majority of teachers. Teachers are quick to complain about students, but do not engage them. Try looking at Nat Geog or ABC programs that deliver educational information that inspire children.
Wake up and do your job or get out and let someone who has the passion to educate are young people do the job.
The only saving grace of this school is the Principal and DP and the administration staff who do care and cannot do enough for parents and students alike.

Take the time to inspire, take the time to connect, take the time to make education fun. Blank books, worksheets, dvd's do not make a lesson plan. Wake up and shake up.

My child has been enrolled in Mitchell high school for 3 years and all he does is complain about the lack of enthusiasm when it comes to teaching a lot of the teachers tend to give up after the first 2-3 weeks of each term then the rest of the term they just do the minimum of what is required from them I.e turn up hand out sheets and wait the period out coming from a parent I find this quite hard to believe but even if my son is not telling the full truth there is always some truth behind every lie I cannot say that the teachers at Mitchell are the worst but what I can say is that after my child's 3 years at Mitchell high his enthusiasm towards his wok and art has completely gone out the door and all he does is come home complain then go into his room I really wish the school could do more to keep students interested in class work maybe even have more days spent on doing activities towards the subject and less text book where so the teachers can be more involved in the lesson thank you.

I'd just like to address some of the comments about bullying, I am a senior student at Mitchell high school, some teachers do attend to bullying, whilst others may pick at students, it is not truly a bad school, just a couple of bad students, and I have only seen a handful of students getting bulled at Mitchell high school, but still, it can improve

I'm a student a senior student and Mitchell high school, and I have found that some teachers cannot handle students if their class, and the younger grades, mostly 7 and 8 are very immature and troublesome, as normal schools, bully does occur, but at a minimum, the facilities are not the greatest, with the male toilets always left flooded with toilet paper, and urine covered toilet seats. Although it may not be the best school, I wouldn't change the time I have spent there as I have met a great amount of students who are forward achieves,

It depends on how you perceive it. I currently am in my 10th year at Mitchell High School and i do not think the school is bad. I try my hardest and have wonderful and supportive teachers. The school may have it's faults, but that is due to the students. It is mainly the younger grades that have immature students, but a lot of people at Mitchell are good students who are sensible and ambitious. All of the people in my class are nice and we all get along.

This school gets worse every year, they have passed through all the good teachers into better schools/positions, and all that is left now is the underachieving educators that hardly do their job. Positioned right next to a huge row of housing commisions which are really bad. Not happy with my experience at this school at all. I graduated in 2011.

My daughter achieved a high mark in Visual art and Music. Math, Science resources are limited, office staff are rude, deputy principal is lacking care for students and their education. Its quite obvious she doesn't put her heart into teaching, and isn't that what teachers are supposed to do? The tall red-haired lady, she does not get her jobs done - avoid dealing with ask to see someone more competent.

i attended this school for 6 years and it was the worst schooling experience i could've imagined. i got bullied heavily, and none of the teachers helped me. i reported all incidents and no action was taken. it resulted
in me being phsically abused, and ignored by all head teachers. teachers at this school really do favour the 'popular' kids. i was deprived of my education and picked out by teachers. police told me that this school is terrible with how they deal with this sort of thing. i would not reccomend this school to anyone.
