The principle at this school is trash and she doesn’t believe in mental health. I honestly had a really, really, really, really depressing/ bad experience at this School and suffered from mental health breakdowns and so forth and everything. This school has an extremely bad reputation with all the bratty students/spoilt brats. Mrs. Amvaris the principle at this School doesn’t care about the students with all the mental health problems, breakdowns and things. The amount of work they give you at this school is just ridiculous, like I got given way too much homework/assignments to do almost everyday in year 7. I do not recommend anyone going to this school for the sack of the principal. I feel like she need to get fired for all that she’s done to us. She makes all the students so depressed at this school who suffer with anxiety and depression from the amount of work that needs to get done throughout the year, it’s unbelievable. This is just a terrible school. No wonder all the good teachers just leave instantly and quit their job here. The principle just argues with all the teachers here like how they are not doing their job properly and how the teachers teach the students like rubbish. Like, what rubbish this school is. In 2016 the principle at this School was so much better than the principle now. I really think she is a bad reputation to this school and everything. This school ruined my life when I was in Year 9. I had really life threatening nightmares that it made me so depressed and whatever. Trying your best at this school to do right things isn’t good enough at all. It is a Really bad school. I rate it 0/5. Pretty rubbish school I would say this is. Do not send your children here. The principle is the reason why.

The teachers at this school are so kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and diligent. Too diligent. This is their biggest downfall as the Snr Exec staff walk all over the amazing teachers here. They belittle them, trap them, pick them off one by one and give them zero voice to actually do their job. Teach. The teachers are treated like infants, ridiculed and belittled in person, in emails and even over the loud speaker to the entire school! They are expected to complete so much that nothing meaningful is implemented as they're so inundated with 'ticking boxes'. If they bothered to actually treat their staff as the professionals they are, perhaps staff morale, and subsequently student morale, would not be so woeful. Student numbers are going down, and staff numbers are trying to leave in droves, but even that is dictated to by the Snr Exec staff because if you want to leave, you need their approval (you literally do). Treat your staff like the expert professionals they are and the school will flourish. Continue in this manner and it will continue to steadily decline. Listen to 'your' staff. They matter.

As a staff member desperate for change so that we can serve our beautiful students, I encourage anyone who experiences issues with Asquith Girls HS to contact the director, Mark Anderson. We cannot continue to lose students. We cannot continue to be subjected to ad hoc decision making. We cannot continue to be subjected to harassment by Snr Executive staff.

I attended this school between 2015 and 2020.I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder about a year after leaving. I have very mild learning disabilities and severe attention defecit when content is not engaging. I received no support even though it was extremely obvious that I was struggling. Because I seem "well spoken" and "intelligent", they assumed I was lazy. I struggled with severe depression anxiety caused by some problems at home, school only exacerbated those conditions. I was not the only one experiencing mental health problems, as many other girls had visible cuts on their wrists, or wore long sleeved undershirts to cover them, in 40° weather.
The principal is incompetent, rude, and self absorbed. She has no empathy or sympathy, almost as if she lacks important components of the cerebral cortex. Her speeches used to go on for upwards of 30 minutes. Interfering with class time, where we students could be learning. Instead we sat for sometimes close to an hour, dozing off. Never did I think that someone could talk so much, but say so little. It seemed as if she were reading the same paragraph over and over, but rephrasing it just a little.
There were some good teachers, and a lot of bad ones. Most did not even treat us as people. The better teaches usually ended up leaving.
I wish I could convey in words, just how badly this school affected my mental health. I'm in no way spiritual, but it almost seemed like the place had a negative aura.
I've only just stopped having nightmares, about still being there. Without having ever left. Almost like some sort of mind prison.
I might also mention, despite being a publicly funded school, the uniform policy was extremely strict. I am generally anti-uniform because I believe it does not make everyone equal. It strips people of their individuality. But, I digress.
Please, for the love of your children, do not send your daughter here.

Numbers are no longer in the 800s. They have dropped into the mid 600s. Why? One reason, the principal and the impact she has on staff and in turn, on students. Staff leave in droves and those that remain are yelled at on a daily basis. As a parent waiting in the office, I have heard this on a few occasions. If you are a staff member, a parent who has had negative experiences I urge you to contact the Director Mark Anderson - mark.anderson5@det.nsw.edu.au - as the community, staff and students need to reclaim this school to deliver it back to where it should be, a place of productive learning where students and staff feel safe.

This school has no soul. It is a sad place where no fun is allowed, the Principal is horrible and a bully to staff all the good teachers leave, just last year I had so many different maths teachers and at the end of the year we just did origami with casual teachers instead of lessons. I hate this place, don't send your daughter here if you want her to have a good education and be happy.

Please if you want to be taught in a safe and fulfilling environment. This school is simply not it. For five long years I had issues with a teacher there. That teacher made me feel unsafe on numerous occasions. After making it clear to the principal, she didn’t do anything to help me. Everyday I hated being there feeling unsafe Now that I have left I still face the trauma and anxiety on a daily basis. All in all they don’t care about mental well-being of students. There is no understanding of situations and there is a huge lack of support. Hated every minute of being there.

I am an ex student, and just wanted to reiterate: do NOT send your child here. 5 years later I am still recovering from the damage this school did to my mental health. the awful principal creates a very depressing atmosphere among the teachers and students, and her only concern is the school image. my biggest regret is staying at this school.

A school where the Senior Executive staff ambush and yell at the staff cohort about 'student behaviour' yet offer no process, procedure or support for said behaviour. A school where the Principal has, on many occasions, harassed and bullied staff members to such an extent that they are granted compassionate transfers. The DoE do nothing to prevent nor discipline this conduct leaving staff feeling unable to raise concerns for fear of retribution.

it’s a pretty good school, and there are some really amazing teachers (especially the tas and caps teachers) but the school leadership is a bit too concerned about the school’s image, when it should be about the students’ mental health instead. The PE teachers are also amazing and if you want a good canteen, then this is the place for you- the garlic bread is the best i’ve ever had ❤️. if you want your daughter to go to a good school, this is a good option, and i recommend it. principal, of you are reading this, then i think that you could maybe make your speeches just a liiiittle bit shorter.

The principal is the reason for this school's reputation, all she cares about is the school's image and she tries to bribe schools to move to asquith girls, she tries to flex things every school has, this school doesn't do academically well either, the only good teachers are constantly leaving which is a red flag that this school is bad or either not paying or treating them well enough.
The principal compares students who are suffering from mental issues to year 7s saying, "They're better behaved than you", "At least they know how to dress well". The principal doesn't care about her student's mental health, if they're the victim or they are being bullied all she says is "Look at their perspective" Basically saying your in the wrong when YOU ARE the victim, coming from multiple experiences, when students don't seek help or tell the principal because she is untrustworthy and puts the blame on you, she would always say "why didn't you come to me in the first place, your in the wrong" Like please, shut up.
Don't go to this shit school, thanks.

Do I recommend your children going here? nope, absolutely not. I'm a student here and I have no choice but to stay here, I either stay here or go to an even worse school, as much as I hate this school, I'd rather stay.
First of all the students here are bratty, spoiled, and think they rule the school along with Asquith boys, they vape, do drugs and trade drugs and stigs and vapes, If you want your children to go here, be prepared for them to change or get into drugs.
This schools reputation is beyond horrific, teachers and coming and leaving due to the principal and the bratty students, every good teacher left, which is a huge red flag, subs are coming and leaving which are impacting student's learning, they don't teach well or respect students either, students are also being disrespectful back.
The principal is the main reason of this school's terrible reputation, she does not care about her students nor their reputation, 2 suicides in 3 years, hell nah! she only cares about the school image and criticizes and compares students to god damn year 7s. This principal threatens to suspend students to make this school "a better place" All she talks about in assembly is how she wants us to be clever or how she wants the school to be a better place, she doesn't allow students to bring their own clothes in freezing weathers, many many students are suffering from mental problems, but the principal doesn't give 2 shits.
She wonders why students are constantly leaving, maybe she should ask herself for her stupid opinion and constantly putting down students for not behaving due to her "rules".
Plus, this school doesn't provide enough resources, nor opportunities like camps, traveling etc. Either this school is broke or just wants to feed off students for money.
So please, do not bring your children here in this corrupted selfish school for the sake of your children's mental health, coming from everyones perspective as-well in this school.

The reason I choose to rate this poor is for a few reason, first if all, the school is so obsessed with thier image and they care about that more than the students mental health. I know sevral girls who attend this school who have suicidal thoughts, i am one of them. The second reason is that this school is extremely toxic and there are many bullies, the third reason is that the teachers don't seem to care (not all of them but the majority do), i was being bullied and all the teachers did was try to tell me "look at the other person's point of view ". But not all things at the school are too bad, but overall i dont recommend sending your child here.

Ok people, listen up!
I’ve just been doing some research about this site and this is what I’ve found. This is a foreign-run realestate site ... actively promoting or discrediting schools in our communities by this review system to influence community perceptions, increase gossip, all to influence property prices!! I had left a positive review here a few months ago and it was removed! Why?? For saying the school was good for my daughters? Why would you do that? Lots of new properties here in Asquith are being promoted to overseas interest and investment groups!! Prices are pretty high right now. Don’t let our community be hijacked by these people. I’ll leave it to your intelligence to join the dots. (And to find truthful info about how the school is)

The comments on this site are horrific and grossly inaccurate. If you are actually a parent (as I am) looking for a good school for your daughter, I can’t see how you would base your decision on the complaints and criticisms here. Go to the school and ask to speak to teachers and the Principal! It’s what I did, and I got a very different picture than the gossip posted here, and I sent my daughter here. She has had some problems with learning things and friendships, but nothing ever suggested it was because a teacher or school didn’t care for her wellbeing or education. It seems maybe one or two people keep posting the same stuff here about teachers leaving because of a bad environment caused by the Principal. Again, being involved in the school and the local community I do not see this. The bad comments on this site have been made up! I have no problem with the Principal setting high expectations for the students or teachers ... and those teachers I know that have left have been able to get head teacher or deputy roles or principal roles at other schools because of the excellent skills they developed at Asquith Girls. The teachers are great, and the school gives them opportunities to advance just like it does for the kids! Do your research people! Don’t be fooled by crap comments here, it makes the community look bad when it’s the complete opposite.

If you are looking to work at this school, do your research. Take careful note of the reviews regarding leadership in the school. Why are there so many bad reviews, is there any truth in what has been written? It wasn't a good experience for myself, and possibly others who have come and gone, make your own choice, be sure if you work here you know what you are letting yourself in for.

Another year started and another bunch of teachers have left this school, I do not understand why the Education Department doesn't look at the huge turn over of staff at AGHS and ask some questions.
My daughter has lost a three of her favourite teachers not including her year advisor and assistant year advisor just since last year. She is now on her fourth year advisor as she starts Year 11 how is this "teaching best practice" as the principal always says.
We seriously looked at changing schools this year as my daughter missed out of the electives she wanted to do with so many options not running, she was devastated not to be able to do textiles and Food technology, two subjects you would think would run in a girls school! The reason we stayed at the school is because of my daughter's friendship group only, they have linked arms and supported each other through some really tough times as the school offers no support there is also an ever changing list of counsellors so no support there either. We are not at the school for any other reason and I wouldn't recommend you sending your daughter here until the school stops focusing on how things look and start to think how the students feel and start to care for the wellbeing of the girls and spending time teaching them rather than rolling out the catchphrases that the school seems to rely on at information evenings.

Asquith girls high school is absolutely AWFUL. Do not ever send your daughter here. The only person in a powerful position that cares about the students is Mr Wigan, who makes an effort to help the students wellbeing. The principal however is somehow never at school and even then she controls the lack of mental health support and focuses entirely on the schools image. She cares more about the academic rank than the high amounts of suicide at Asquith Girls. THIS SCHOOL IS BAD. DONT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE PLEASE. NO ONE IS OKAY HERE.

There is a reason why this is a single sex school
By Parent - 2019年06月01日, 評價: 很差
I feel a bit torn rating the school as bad as I have had three daughters attend this school and the teachers are, overall, very dedicated and hard working the problem with the school is the Principal. The school has had a huge turn over of staff since she arrived at least five Deputy Principals have come and gone in that time and the number of head teachers and teachers that have left the school must raise alarm bells somewhere in the Department of Education.
I took my youngest daughter out of Asquith at the end of Year 10 as she had had quite a few bulling issues that had not been addressed by the school but the main reason was the lack of elective choices in Year 11 and 12. She was told to choose 6 subjects and 6 backup choices, from the 12 subjects she picked she got 2 subjects of her choice and was forced to do subjects she had no interest in such as Music and Chemistry where she had chosen Ancient History, Hospitality and ITM none of these subjects ran in her year.
When I made an appointment to see the Principal she was rude, dismissive and insulting. As one of the previous comments suggested I did contact the Hornsby Regional Director but I have since found out this woman is a close personal friend of the Principal at Asquith, it is no surprise I never had any response to my complaint.
Since taking my daughter out of Asquith Girls High School I have seen a huge change in her approach to her school work and her general personality. She is now at a school where all students are encouraged and supported and she is loving going to school even though she is preparing to do the HSC.
I wouldn't send a student to this school unless there is a change of Principal, it is really that simple.
By Alumnus - 2019年05月17日, 評價: 一般
As a community, if you are unhappy with the situation at the school, please send your concerns to the Hornsby Regional Director, or at worst to the Education Minister. Be factual in your concerns, don't make it emotional. Work as a community to make change happen. All schools should be a safe and nurturing learning environment. The wellbeing of Students and staff should be the most important thing. Many schools have incorporated PBEL, positive behaviour engaging learners. If those people feel supported, enthusiastic learning will happen. We live in a society where bullying is not acceptable, and the leader of the school sets the tone. The standard you ignore is the standard you set. If you truly want change, make your voices heard to those who will make it happen. Good luck Students, parents and staff.

I attended Asquith Girls 2011 - 2016. My experience was enjoyable. I loved going to school, built close friendships with teachers, participated in sports and leadership, and will cherish memories from my time there.
Would I recommend you send your daughter there? No. The school simply does not support its students as it should. I felt incredibly supported by my teachers (many of whom have since left), so when I refer to "support", I'm generally speaking of policies re: mental health and bullying, student opportunities, counselling etc.
The school has a very 'one size fits all' policy regarding mental health. I expressed concerns of suicidality my senior years and was appalled at how I was treated by my deputy principal (I believe she has since left). This individual was responsible for my case, and refused to listen to the advice of my psychologist, the school's head of welfare, my other teachers and even the other deputy principal, all of whom I had developed strong relationships with, knew me well, and I considered very trusting adults. School was my safe space at that time, so to ultimately suspend me for mental health concerns was an almost deadly decision. I was not allowed to attend school, which left me distraught, and really damaged my frame of mind. The counsellors at Asquith were also hopeless. The school's only welfare assets have since moved elsewhere.
Asquith's principal has a kind heart, but she has let down what was once a well-renowned school. Elizabeth Amvrazis is the reason your child should not attend this school. She is academically driven and image focused. She's stripped so much of the school's spirit. In our last week of high school, my grade wanted to wear mufti for one day, as per every year 12 grade before us. We were not allowed due to image concerns. We were told we might distract or make male teacher uncomfortable, and would damage the public's reputation of us. Furthermore, getting any kind of initiative approved was a nightmare.
Asquith is not a school that fosters expression, nor creativity or a sense of community. The teachers are amazing, and they genuinely do their best despite her, but the school's principal has really ruined Asquith Girls.

I am a current Year 12 student at this damned school. Let me tell you that the only thing that is "formative" about my years here were the formation of my many mental illnesses- including post-traumatic stress disorder. As much as teachers and support staff are great on a face to face basis, they do not follow through with anything. Only the office ladies are good. I know that its a sensitive topic, but I attempted suicide and the school's support is little to none. Sure, i got a time out card but their process does not work for someone who has suicidal ideation. I have quite often gone straight to the designated room and received frantic calls from my mum when they wouldnt come and see where I was and assumed I had left the grounds. The 'no bullying' policy? Complete bullshit. I reported multiple cases of psychological and physical abuse and nothing was done. Nothing. I asked to see the psychologist in school as well as my outside one. Nothing. If you want a happy, healthy daughter say goodbye to this school. I am not the only one who has had experiences like this. They put on a front and tell us collectively in assembly that we dress like prostitutes and are a disgrace to the school image. Always with the image. Its a lie. The entire image is a lie. And we suffer because of it.

I graduated from this school a few years ago now. They were without a doubt the worst years of my life so far, with the relentless bullying I experienced while being there. And not once did any of the senior members of staff want to do anything about stopping the bullies. Their solution was for me to “be more resilient”. I’ve got Asquith Girls to thank for over 100 hours of therapy and a diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Yeah. Thanks for nothing.

I’ve been at AGHS for 3 years going on to 4 and let’s just say it’s not been the best few years. First I would start by saying in year 7 we had an English teacher where English was her second language yes people can be good at more then one language but in her case that was the complete opposite. I believe there were girls in the class who had better English skills then her and to be fair we didn’t learn anything. I then remember when year 8 came and we were doing PETAL, let’s just say no one from 7n could tell you what it was. Okay moving on to year 8. Life was pretty good not being the babies of the school but still it wasn’t any better for example. 2 girls in my year got suspended for drawing a picture. YES I know drawing a picture. The was little sport opportunities for anyone especially if you didn’t have an older sister to help get you into teams. We had one excursion the whole year witch was to a restaurant for lote but that still is pretty rediculous. Year nine was pretty rubbish. For example I started to get bullied but what did the school do? NOTHING. To be honest I thought year 9 was good to be great but boy was I wrong. In previous years the girls got to choose 3 electives but we only got 2 and then an authentic learning class witch was a complete waste of time. I remember one class I did we played board games for 2 terms. It was completely useless as I didn’t learn anything from it.
The staff at the school are average but there are a few good ones. For example these teachers that actually check up on students and care about there learning while these the ones who just do the bare minimum. And the principal. She isn’t the best but it could be worse. She hasn’t done anything to improve the school only driven the good teachers away. She likes to go on stupid lectures at assembly and it’s pointless.
In general the school is average
By Student - 2019年01月28日, 評價: 優秀
Let’s start by saying it could be worse. The ground and the facilities are basic as we aren’t a private school but it’s still pretty good. Most of the teachers are great but some can’t control classes witch stops the learning of other students. The principal and vices need to be in the same page because girls have been suspended for little inconvenience like drawing pictures while I have witnessed first hand girls that have SMOKED on school grounds in school hours be let off with a warning. This sort of rubbish should not be tolerated. Might I just add the support system for girls that struggle isn’t very good either for example the do a learning support class for a select amount of girls that is on the same times as other classes and it’s only offered to the junior students. Now to the real stuff.... the principal. WE DONT WANT 30 MINUET SPEACHES. Every assembly and presentation day she has to make a long boring and total elephant irrelevant speech. Like no one cares what you have to say. But overall the school is well it’s all right for a public one

This school is pretty bad. There are basically no mufti days, hoodies are banned even though it's freezing cold in winter. They tell us to buy the school jumper but that provides no warmth whatsoever. At the end of every assembly the whole school is lectured about something stupid that like 2 people in the school do and what the public thinks. The majority of the good teachers have left. They run this stupid Sisters in School group where you sit and learn nothing for 40 minutes. Even though everybody says they don't want to do it even the teachers don't like it yet year after year, it still runs for some reason. Don't go here they care more about the colour of your socks than your education. What's wrong with black socks? If you have a problem with black socks then your sockist and you should be ashamed.

Bc some kids are rude to me and some teachers can be too strict at times. But overall it’s a pretty good school and I personally reccomend it. But i see not really a point having a girl school and a boy school when u could have just made it a coeducational school. But as I said it’s pretty good. A lot of the hate on our school is pretty disappointing but anyways. I personally think it’s probably a good school to go to especially if ur local.

I am a Year 7 student at AGHS. It’s already Term 4 and I am absolutely in love with this place. It’s like my second home!
I’ve read the other reviews and they are just talking trash. Although the principal is very...I don’t have words to describe her. All she cares about is herself. It feels like the deputy’s and head teachers care about us more than the bloody principal. She doesn’t allow Yr 12’s to participate in the AGHS Musical which is totally unfair, she doesn’t allow us to wear jumpers and trackies in winter even though it’s FREEZING outside and so much more! ALSO, she talks nonsense in assemblies and talks for ages and because of this, our bell times have to change which is so not helpful at all.
The well-being and councillor systems are great! I mean i haven’t had to visit them, but I know that the team is great as they are encouraging everyone to get help, but some people choose not to which is too bad for them.
The CAPA (Creative And Performing Arts) staff are the bomb! They care about having fun and making all the good times last. Which is great! I mean other staff members are good too but CAPA is the best. I have been to many performances and performed in dance, music and more, and I can assure you that you have to be a part of CAPA. Whether it’s singing, playing around with lights or dancing and even PAINTING, you will be surrounded by the best teachers ever!
Now, onto uniform. In orientation week which is the first week of high school for year 7 students, they go through the rules and they seem very very strict about uniform. Although, by the time term 2/3 swings around, everyone is legit wearing mufti. well they are actually just wearing hoodies underneath their school jumpers. The P & C have designed another jumper but it is absolutely terrible and i swear...that no one has actually bought it. Why don’t the principals just let the kids keep themselves warm in winter? Like seriously. That is one bad thing about the school
i feel so honoured to be attending this school and I am so glad i don’t go to Loreto or Abbotsleigh or any of those shitty schools. Asquith is a place where I feel like i belong and i L

I am currently a year 12 student attending Asquith girls high school and I can confidently say that I will never look back at these years and call them "the best years of my life". My time at Asquith has been horrible and will be unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. I do not recommend the school to anyone and countless times I have told parents not to send their daughters here. Since the principle has arrived the only thing I have had to look forward to is graduating soon. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate every teacher I have and had the pleasure of teaching me and if it wasn't for them I probably would of left a long time ago. The principle is disrespectful and self centred she does not care for the students and only for herself, in her eyes TAFE students are "drop outs" and declined many students from applying and does not show any interest in students that participate in sport. Out of my 6 years at AGHS I couldn't even tell you the last time our principle has stood on stage to congratulate a student in their success with a sporting but always the first to take centre stage when it comes to academic success. In year 9 I wore black tracksuit pants to school as it was terribly cold morning and I couldn't afford the school tracksuit pants and was told that I'll never be able to get a job because I wore black pants instead of a thin skirt. There is no sense of freedom or individuality within the school, girls are continually suppressed with what coloured bras are allowed under white shirts as its distracting. god forbid too many piercings and coloured hair. students are continually looked down upon for ridiculous reasons. girls are yelled at for wearing sport shorts and the tracksuit pants instead of a skirt, I can speak for myself and many others in saying that a skirt can make myself feel vulnerable and bare as I find myself constantly pulling and tugging at my skirt as I feel uncomfortable. there is no wellbeing support at Asquith girls. the principle turns away when students are in need. the depression rate in the girls is constantly increasing and is a frightening thought. reality clicks in at this point when I have been attending Asquith during the period of 4 successful suicides yet no change and no improvement. I was kicked out of a room when I was sitting with my crying cousin being aware of her depression and was told that she has to be by herself. isolation is not the key yet this is their way of "handling things" the councillor didn't even sit with her but walked back into her office and left my cousin there crying. AGHS has really gone downhill and suppressing not only is not freedom or individuality, girls are not even allowed to sit on the school oval to enjoy the sun and sit on the ground or even kick a ball. they removed us from sitting out there and gave us no explanation as to why at assemblies girls are constantly put down by all the negatives that the principle can see and we are never told the positives. the school is full with constant negativity and its depressing. DON'T SEND YOUR DAUGHTER HERE she doesn't care about your daughters wellbeing or education as long as there is money coming in she's fine. there's nothing to look forward at Asquith girls as there is now mufti days. no events. everything is not allowed the principle quite literally sucks the joy and positivity out of everything. year 12s used to have a fun last week of muck up days but were recently banned as she didn't like them anymore. overall the school is just disappointing and my "best years of my life" will be more of relief that I'm finally free from Asquith girls high school and I will never recommend anyone to this place.

Get rid of the principal and start getting the school back to what it was. AGHS has lost a huge amount of fantastic teachers due to issues with the principal and whilst they still do have some fantastic teachers, a large amount of teachers coming in are foreign and have English as their second language so whilst they may be qualified are impossible to understand. I asked one teacher 5 times at the parent/teacher to repeat herself and I gave up as I couldn't understand what she was saying - and this is during a one on one conversation - how on earth are our girls to learn when someone who does not speak clear English teaches - and in some cases teaches English. The current principal only cares about her Powerpoint presentations and has absolutely no thought for the girls and the teachers in the school. She lied directly to my daughter and friends about something of the worst kind and because of this, there is a group of girls who will now have no respect for authority when someone at the highest level blatantly lies just to make herself look good. Disgusting behaviour of the worst kind. I do thank all the great teachers that are still there and deserve medals for teaching under what much be a hard time with low morale amongst everyone. Thank goodness there for the teachers that my daughter will remember throughout her life as going out of their way to be awesome.

Asquith Girls is, at best, a satisfactory school. The principal has her own agenda and is completely disinterested in caring for the mental wellbeing of her students. Multiple students at the school have mental health problems and next to nothing is done to help these students.
It is also worth mentioning that the diverse LGBT community at the school is not recognised due to the principal’s homophobia. However, while the principal is on one extreme, one of the current vice captains is on the other. She is a radical, hetero-hating “SJW” who consistently pushes her beliefs onto her fellow students. Despite the fact she says she is respectful of other people, their cultures and beliefs, she is actively trying to stamp out the school’s Christian group for her own “pride” group.
Last time I checked, a good society exists in balance and harmony where people of all beliefs and backgrounds can coexist. I find it extremely hypocritical that the current vice captain of Asquith Girls preaches diversity yet is completely ignorant to anything that might inherently damage her own agenda.
While the principal and leadership team of the school argue over the exclusion of people, they both should look in the mirror and realise that they are in fact quite similar. Two wrongs do not make a right.

More good teachers have left this year. Some of those left have no idea about teaching using constructive criticism and seem to think that tearing students apart in front of their peers is appropriate. No. There are NO mentors as the previous comment mentioned, which I suspect has been written by the principal herself, considering terms like "transition to school" is not something a student would use. There are academic mentors. This school considering the high suicide rate needs to focus on WELLBEING, social, emotional support, not the continuous push to HSC results. The comment about assemblies is a perfect example. The whole school is subject to criticism for a few girls that MAY be playing up on the train. Having seen the behaviour of most of the schools on public transport including Knox boys who are far from gentlemanly or Loreto girls and the far ruder Asquith boys who are bordering on harassing girls I don't think Asquith girls are so bad. BTW complaints about harassment on train by the girls are treated like they are making it up and the principal.

I am a student at this school. I am. Yes. And I want to say, that it is excellent. I have in fact witnessed and experienced these negative things mentioned by others, yet I come to the same school at almost every single day and see new improvements and it makes the everyday experience at school much better. It might not be the perfect school, yet I know they aspire to be even though they have, we have to take small steps at a time. Every day, something becomes better. I believe this is because they are in fact hearing our voices. I am very proud to be a student of this school, a school that has thought me a very valuable lesson in life, that we all must learn from our mistakes, know them better, and fix everything up at a pace until we completely kick ourselves back up. I feel blessed being surrounded by supportive mentors and peers that are continuously giving their best efforts to improve and fix these issues. That is why I believe this place is amazing. Seeing the new students this year made me so happy. Because they seemed to be less afraid and overwhelmed by their transition to high school. I am very proud of them as they are currently witnessing the school's new age, where they offer multiple opportunities, intensive support, and great guidance to their students. I love this school. It takes such a good care of its students. I know some close people from the school come and go, but I think that this is the proof that this school is continuously developing and nurturing itself, in order to take a better care of your sisters, friends, and daughters. This school has so much potential and you can find that within the students, the staff, and everyone else that keeps this school standing. The biggest thing it has taught me is, everything may not be perfect, but if you use a different set of eyes, you will most certainly see its inner beauty, and that inner beauty is something that will continuously nurture you to have a glow better than its own. I am the student who wrote the extensive complaint as a sign of my anger. I was right, then I was wrong, I only saw the thin bark on the outside, not its inner beauty that continuously nurtures me in order to become as prepared as I could ever be when I leave the nest. I love this school, support it. You may be reading this, you could be one of the people who wrote the other negative comments here, yet give this school a better look, and you will see that this school, is striving for its excellence so the ones that go there, including me, become much better than what it has giving me. And I am saying this as I am well aware, that it will do anything to harness their students' potential. This is a forever-changing school, to suit their students to the forever-changing society. Please give this school a better look. Because I did. And it's amazing and it is such an honor to be having to go there every day.

Yes. I am currently studying in this school for almost 4 years now. And the principal is very disappointing. Disappointing isn't even the right word to describe it, she's outrageous, her ignorance of the importance of learning is so unacceptable and all she wants are good NAPLAN and HSC results. She doesn't know that she is letting go of great teachers especially those of the core subjects such as History, Geography, English, and Science. As a student who strives for academic excellence, this is very disappointing. When we were preparing for NAPLAN in 2017, a lot of us struggled as we had terrible teachers that did not have well-structured lessons, and they are also not engaging. They are also just giving out a lot of worksheets especially for English and it's was almost as if we were revising everything we have already learned from year 8. Year 8, I had such a great English teacher whose efforts are obvious and she was giving us resources, lengthy yet useful powerpoint lessons and gives us multiple lessons to prepare for assessment tasks. This teacher of mine was a dream teacher. Yet as lucky as I was, one of my friends was complaining about their English teacher who was plagiarising, and not giving sufficient lessons and was very repetitive and this teacher blamed them if they failed the tasks. There are also many stories like this that I've heard from students across the years. I do agree that there are many amazing teachers that I have heard of as well. Some that I have seen, very few that I had, yet for those who are known to be really amazing are starting to leave the school while us in the lower years has not yet even been able to experience their supposed great teaching. I found this very disappointing and aggravating. Yet another incident concerning me is the fact that I applied to get into open high school to continue learning Japanese as my teacher in year 8 proposed as he said I showed the most exemplary results in all aspects of stage 7 Japanese even being at the top of the school in a yearly language competition and competing in an online language competition that involves all of NSW and placing 7th at the highest. Others applied for open high school as well since Japanese wasn't going to run for our year once we are in stage 5. Yet apparently, she contacted the other applicants and got them in it and I came to school not knowing this. I am now unable to get there since there are no longer spots and apparently I did not apply for it in the first place. I have told my language teachers and they were also mad about it. They were so proud of me being so keen on learning a third language yet I hit this huge roadblock due to the principal. I was not able to get over it as I see my few friends who made it in. Them talking about how much of a greater experience it is while I am here having to wait until my senior years to be able to continue my guided language learning. At one point the student body also posted posters of a "pride day" to celebrate the LBTQI+ community and the members of it in our school. It is also to support them and keep them from moving forward and celebrating gender equality itself. The SRC and other leadership bodies said that it is in fact official and all we had to do was to wear something little with a rainbow like a hair tie or a ribbon or a badge. Yet as the day was closing in, she asked for the posters to be taken down saying it is not official. It made the whole student body hate her even more. What is wrong with celebrating and encouraging people for being what they are? This was one of the final straws. Also, she makes the deputies correct us and our behaviors due to complaints being received from the community. Yes, there are in fact a small number of students that could be rude out in public yet they try their best to correct themselves. Yet in every assembly, ALL students are being told that they are irresponsible, and are a disappointment which is further discouraging us students as they pinpoint our mistakes and try to focus on correcting them more than actually encouraging us in a great manner. She believes that showing the year 12's HSC results is called encouragement. No, it is not. They are putting lots of pressure on our shoulders concerning the HSC that stage 4 and 5 students shouldn't even stress about. She doesn't know that quality teachers that could stay permanent and better counselors and she out of the office are a good enough encouragement for us students who just want, a comfortable, non-heavy environment that is a good place for learning with quality mentors and proper support and guidance. Another incident that I encountered was when I was in year 8, a classmate of mine committed suicide. Yet not knowing her, some of my friends did. Another one is when I was in year 9 and an amazing classmate of mine from year 8 tried to commit suicide during a sports carnival. The incident was swept under the carpet and the students weren't even properly assured of her condition at the least. We had to learn from her friends whether she was alive or dead or is doing fine or moved to a different school. This school has so much potential having amazing students that are not getting what they deserve.

Yeah, what everyone says here is right. The principal is ruining what was a really good school. So many great teachers are leaving the school and I can't blame them. We are not allowed to have mufti days. We hardly ever have assemblies any more and when we do the principal and deputies just complain about our behaviour and the way we look. The principal is always talking about the school plan but doesn't seem to allow anyone to plan anything within the school. No art club anymore no discos, no fundraising for charities. There is no spirit left in the school- the teachers try to do there best but I think they are sick of the principal too

The previous comments are entirely accurate. Since this current principal arrived at the school, the atmosphere and school has declined. The emphasis is on image and HSC results (which are no better if not worse) rather than well-being. Another suicide attempt at the athletics carnival where all the girls were aware of what happened and it was swept under the carpet. The counselors seem to be unaware that privacy is a vital constituent of their relationship with students and will not uphold privacy unless it is specifically requested, which goes against all standards. Perhaps they should consult with the APS. Many good teachers have left. My experience of the principle when I complained was as the girls said, she will ignore the issue, try and claim it does not exist, or try to shift blame. A school is about all students not just the high achieving HSC students. Citizens of the World is not what these girls are learning, they are learning that life is unfair, that a principal can shout at them and abuse them and that is OK. No it is not.

Being at the school for almost 5 years now, i can honestly say every year the school has declined more and more. What once many years back was a fun place to go to school with many activities outside the class room and mufti days, Is now a miserable and extremely negative school environment. The principal has stripped us students of every seemingly fun activity possible and has even recently made groups who have sat in the same spot on the oval for a number of years move due to unknown reasons. This woman is controlling and narcissistic. The school provides no support for students suffering mental health issues and tragic events that have taken place with members of our school have been swept under the carpet. Maybe instead of using her time to patrol the Asquith hallways for anyone out of uniform she could use that time to do something productive for the school.I'd like to sincerely thank Asquith for making my school life based completely around my rank and not caring about my individual wellbeing whatsoever.

Absolutely awful environment that does not promote positive sense of self or wellbeing for the girls that attend! The principle refuses to address the increases rate of metal health related issues and provides no support for those struggling with anxiety and depression and sweep extreamly traumatic and concerning situations and events under the carpet that have effects on other students who aren't involved. The councillors are no exception to this as they are unnaproachable and do not maintain confidentiality which breaches any kind of trust and relationship between them and the students. The principle refuses to acknowledge the ever present LGBTIQ+ students within the school which make evoke feelings of oppression. The school environment sucks the creativity out of students and there is no room for self expression. Many teachers only teach the bare minimum and even complain about teaching, in front of the students. There are a few teachers who are an exception to this however these are scarce and may continue to decline leaving students without any teachers that students feel as if they can relate to, trust and learn from. It is a bit of a problem when students are having to go to teachers for personal support over a councillor that is supposedly trained to do just that.

Asquith Girls high school would be so much better if it wasn't all about the reputation of the school. The school doesn't have a comfortable uniform meaning that some girls come to school with a different jumper or some track pants to stay warm during winter. Somehow there is a problem with this and students get pulled out of class for "inapproiate clothing" when they should be more concerned about what they learn. There wouldn't be a problem if the uniform wasn't uncomfortable and was actually warm during winter. The counselling system is poor and if you need help you don't receive it. The principal simply ignores girls who might have depression or other mental heath issues. The counsellors don't do anything good except pass on personal information that you told them. It wouldn't surprise me if the counsellors weren't trained. The principal tries to be insiprational and boasts about how well the students are and how good she is for the school. No one needs to hear 30-40 minutes of her boasting about school rates and her stories about birds and monkeys which have no relation to learning. Before our current principal learning to live actually meant something. Now it
means nothing and we're learning how to impress the public. Trying your best isn't good enough.
