I am mostly happy about a few of my children's teachers. There are a handful of disappointing ones though that unfortunately make the whole experience leave a sour taste in our mouths. My children attended this school with also the experience of favouritism from teachers. Heard the same from other parents as well. A few parents even boasted about giving expensive gifts to teachers. Needless to say, their children get favoured for roles in events and get called upon to be student "leaders". My eldest child experienced bullying from one student who was a "favourite". Nothing was ever done about it over the whole time she was there, despite follow-up. We eventually gave up communicating with the school as there was hardly any support provided. A psychologist was suggested but never followed up despite our requests for a schedule. (Too busy they said). Also, there is a very rude office person who you can overhear badmouths parents who just left after being served at their counter. Even the assistant principal I overheard saying that students "don't know any better". I am appalled at this attitude of administrative staff. The current principal (2020) seems capable, because she seems to be implementing changes that are making improvements to order in the school, as far as pickups and drop offs as well as outside of hours care. This is great and appreciated. I think there is still plenty of room to improve scholastic aspects of the school. Awards are given out for effort. When parents asked why there are no awards for actual excellence in academic achievement, we received a response that they don't want jealousy to happen when kids compare themselves to others. With this logic, why do they acknowledge those who excel in SPORT and DANCE?? Isn't this inconsistent? There are very few options for the kids to do non-academic activities, likely due to the limited expertise of faculty. There is too much emphasis on DANCE, which you'd think is because this is the expertise of staff, however they outsource DANCE classes from an outside company.
